Penlan Club A.F.C.
Penlan Association Football Club is an amateur Welsh football team based in Penlan, Swansea, Wales. They play in the West Wales Premier League which is in the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system. History Formed in 2006, the team have been champions of the top division of the Swansea Senior Football League five times since the 2011–12 season. For the 2020–21 season the club joined the newly formed tier 4 West Wales Premier League. The first season of the competition was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic and in the 2021–22 season the club were the inaugural champions of the league losing only one game all season. Penlan AFC also won the West Wales Premier League Cup, claiming a historic double. Penlan is a suburban area of Swansea, Wales in the Penderry ward. The area is set on top of a hill, which overlooks Townhill, Kilvey Hill and Swansea Bay. Leisure Local amenities include the Penlan leisure centre, which incorporates a swimming pool and sports hall, and the Penlan Library.. West Wales Premier League
The West Wales Premier League (known for sponsorship reasons as ''The Macron West Wales Premier League'') is a football league in Wales, at tier 4 of the Welsh Football Pyramid in South West Wales under the control of the West Wales Football Association. The league consists of teams having their grounds and headquarters West of a line drawn from Briton Ferry, Neath, northwards to Glynneath, and then again northwards to the boundary line of the South Wales Football Association. Welsh Football League System
The Welsh football league system (or pyramid) is a series of football leagues with regular promotion and relegation between them. While most Welsh clubs play in the Welsh pyramid and most clubs in that pyramid are Welsh, five Welsh clubs play in England, and four English clubs play in Wales. The Swansea Senior Association Football League or Swansea Senior League, is a league competition featuring non-professional association football clubs in the area of Swansea, south Wales. The league consists of seven divisions, three for "first teams" and four for "reserves" and lower teams. The top division, Division One is just below West Wales Premier League, and therefore sits at level 5 of the Welsh football pyramid. FAW Trophy
The FAW Welsh Trophy is a knock-out football competition contested annually by teams from Wales and the borders. The Football Association of Wales is the organising body of this competition, which has been run every year since its inception in 1890–91 (except during the two World Wars) for clubs competing in the lower echelons of the Welsh football league system. It was known as the Welsh Junior Cup until 1902, when it became the Welsh Amateur Cup, a title it held until 1974, when it was renamed the FAW Intermediate Cup. The West Wales Intermediate Challenge Cup is the regional knock-out competition for clubs beneath the umbrella of the West Wales Football Association, at the level of Tier 4 and below of the Welsh Football Pyramid in South West Wales. The tournament invites clubs typically from the top divisions of the Carmarthenshire League, Neath & District League, Pembrokeshire League and Swansea Senior League.
