Pendragon Records
Pendragon Records was a short-lived American industrial and electronic music record label that was founded in 1997 by Irish expatriate Colm O'Connor. The label was based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pendragon released a total of 25 albums from artists based in the United States, Canada, and Germany. Notable bands signed to Pendragon included Haujobb, Gridlock, Velvet Acid Christ, and Xorcist. Its first release, PEN100, was Haujobb's ''Homes and Gardens''. The label was bought out by Metropolis Records in 1999 shortly after it released Halo_Gen's self-titled album as PEN125. When Metropolis Records bought Pendragon, they continued to sell Pendragon's backstock. Some of the bands that had been signed to Pendragon, such as Haujobb and Imperative Reaction, continued to release music on Metropolis Records. WTII Records is an independent record label created in 2001 by former Wax Trax! Records employee Bart Pfanenstiel, and David Schock. History WTII established The concept behind WTII started in 1999 while Bart Pfanenstiel was employed at Wax Trax!, During Wax Trax!'s final year, Pfanenstiel and Dannie Flesher (co-founder of Wax Trax!) were working to move Wax Trax into the modern era of electro/industrial music, tapping into the new breed of bands making their way to the US from Europe. Pfanenstiel had made a connection with Stefan Herwig, of then Offbeat Records. The two had discussed licensing possibilities and the first of those opportunities came with the signing of VNV Nation to Wax Trax!. Imperative Reaction is an American electro-industrial band founded in 1996 by Ted Phelps and David Andrecht from the remains of the band Digital Neural Assault. History A demo tape titled ''Debris'' was originally released in 1996, but was eventually recalled and destroyed as the band chose to go a different direction. The band's next effort, a demo entitled ''Persistence of Memory'', featured the track "Predicate", which was included on Possessive Blindfold car Recordings compilation album ''Exoskeleton Vol. 1''. The band's first studio album, ''Eulogy For The Sick Child'', was released in February 1999. The next month, it had reached the top ten of CMJ's (RPM) charts. Xorcist
Xorcist is the name of an American musical group whose output has ranged from electro-industrial and ambient. Background Peter Stone (a.k.a. Bat) formed Xorcist in 1990 as a one-man act. By 1997, Xorcist grew to include Evoltwin. In addition to providing some vocals, Evoltwin created the cover art for ''Soul Reflection'' and other subsequent releases. Stone also created two side projects, Xenon and Diode Fetish. Stone still DJs and VJs under the name DJ/VJ Bat, and maintains the Xorcist.com website to promote his work. Industrial Music
Industrial music is a genre of music that draws on harsh, mechanical, transgressive or provocative sounds and themes. AllMusic defines industrial music as the "most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music" that was "initially a blend of avant-garde electronics experiments (tape music, musique concrète, white noise, synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) and punk provocation". Velvet Acid Christ (VAC) is an electro-industrial band based in Denver, Colorado. The band was formed in 1990 by lead vocalist, musician, and producer Bryan Erickson (aka Disease Factory), and later featured various ex-members of Toxic Coma. Gridlock (band)
Gridlock was a San Francisco based experimental electronic band, consisting of Mike Wells and Mike Cadoo. Conceived by Wells in 1993 as "heaviness through electronics", the band was initially a part of the electro-industrial scene, but the band's sound eventually began incorporating more atmospheric textured elements, as well as elements of glitch and IDM. Biography Gridlock began as an expression of Mike Wells' desire to stray from his experience in the San Francisco thrash metal scene, and his interest in experimental music. During the production of his initial recordings under the Gridlock moniker, he met Skinlab guitarist Mike Cadoo through the Oakland heavy metal scene, who eventually joined Gridlock as a vocalist.
