Peirce Crosby
Peirce Crosby (January 16, 1824 – June 15, 1899) was a rear admiral in the United States Navy, whose active duty career included service in the Mexican–American War and the Civil War. Early life and career Born in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Crosby is a descendant of John Morton, signer of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Crosby was appointed midshipman in June 1838. He reached the rank of Lieutenant in September 1853 after a decade and a half in ships of the Home and Mediterranean Squadrons, plus coast survey duty. He served in the sloop-of-war and the schooner in the Mexican–American War, and had shore assignments in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Peirce Lynch
Peirce Lynch, alias Peter Lynch, fl. 1485–1486, was the first Mayor of Galway. The son of John Lynch fitz Edmond, as well as a brother of Dominick Dubh Lynch, and a member of one of The Tribes of Galway, Peirce became the first Mayor of Galway in August 1485, being succeeded by his brother Dominck in August 1486. His grandfather, Edmond Lynch, was Sovereign of Galway in the years 1434 and 1443. Their ancestor, Thomas de Linche, was provost of Galway in 1274. Descendants of the family continued to hold office regularly up to 1654. Peirce Ó Caiside (died 1504) was a Gaelic-Irish physician and writer. He was of the most well-known Ó Caiside family, who were natives of what is now County Fermanagh, where they were poets, churchmen, scholars and hereditary physicians to the Maguire Kings of Fer Manach.
