Pierce Winningham McKennon (November 30, 1919 – June 18, 1947) was an American flying ace of World War II with 12 aerial victories and 9.83 ground victories. Early life Pierce McKennon was born in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas, on November 30, 1919. He was a gifted musician and entered the University of Arkansas in 1938 but performed poorly and left a year later. He later returned to the university but never graduated. World War II McKennon entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in early 1941 hoping to become a pilot but was refused because of his insufficient aptitudes. He then enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he successfully underwent pilot training and became a sergeant pilot by the end of 1941. He was sent to England and became a member of the famous Eagle Squadron, training with the Royal Air Force throughout 1942. Franklin Pierce Lively (August 17, 1921 – March 12, 2016) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Education and career Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Lively received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Centre College in 1943 and served as a Lieutenant (J.G.) in the United States Naval Reserve during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1948, and was a law clerk to Judge Shackelford Miller Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit from 1948 to 1949. Pierce Lewis
Pierce Lewis (11 April 1664 – May 1699) was a Wales, Welsh cleric who helped to "correct" the 1690 edition of the Welsh Bible. Lewis was born to Pierce and Elizabeth Lewis, who lived on Anglesey in North Wales. His father was the registrar of the Diocese of Bangor. In 1684, Lewis matriculation, matriculated at Jesus College, Oxford, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1684. He appears to have stayed in Oxford to supervise the production of the Bible associated with his relative William Lloyd (bishop of Worcester), William Lloyd, who was Bishop of St Asaph at the time. This edition was not well received. He then obtained the living of Llanfachraeth, Anglesey in 1690, becoming vicar of Bangor, Gwynedd, Bangor in 1693 and rector of Llanfairfechan in 1698. Pierce Knox (June 1, 1921 - September 19, 1985) was a blind xylophone and marimba player who toured from coast to coast and in Canada during the 1940s and 1950s. He achieved fame by winning the $5,000 grand prize on the Horace Heidt Original Youth Opportunity television show by performing the "Second Hungarian Rhapsody" on the xylophone.
