Pedro Pablo García Caffi
Pedro Pablo García Caffi (1944 – 1 July 2022) was an Argentine singer, stage director, producer and cultural administrator. He focused mainly on Argentine popular music, as a member of the Cuarteto Zupay; and on classical music, as conductor of the Camerata Bariloche and as general director of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires. He was general and artistic director of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata and general and artistic director of the Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires. Life and career Born in Buenos Aires, Caffi became first known as founding member and lead singer of the folk group Cuarteto Zupay. A stage director since 1983, following the 1991 disbandment of the group in 1992 he was nominated general director of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic, a position he left in 1997 to become executive director of the prestigious Camerata Bariloche. Cuarteto Zupay
Cuarteto Zupay or simply Los Zupay, was an Argentinian Popular Music group formed in Buenos Aires in 1966 that remained active until 1991. The founding members were the brothers Pedro Pablo García Caffi ( baritone) and Juan José García Caffi (first tenor), Eduardo Vittar Smith ( bass) and Aníbal López Monteiro (second tenor). Over the years, the group's line-up changed with the exception of Pedro Pablo García Caffi, holder of the group's name, who remained a member until its dissolution. Other members were Eduardo Cogorno (tenor), Rubén Verna (tenor), Horacio Aragona (tenor), Gabriel Bobrow (tenor), Javier Zentner (bass) and Marcelo Díaz (tenor). The Buenos Aires Philharmonic ( es, Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires) is an Argentinian orchestra based in Buenos Aires. Founded in 1946, it is based in the renowned Teatro Colón, and is considered one of the most prestigious orchestras in its nation and Latin America, and has received several honours in 60 years of history. Their local counterparts in the national aegis are the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra and the Teatro Colón Orchestra. The orchestra's current Music Director is Mexican Enrique Diemecke. Camerata Bariloche
The Camerata Bariloche is a chamber music ensemble from Argentina, founded in 1967. The ensemble has achieved international recognition for excellence. Origins The Camerata was formed by musician Alberto Lysy, who organized the Camping Musical Bariloche Chamber Music Festival in Buenos Aires which is attended by both local and foreign musicians. A number of musicians traveled to Bariloche to serve as teachers during development of the music camp, and by 1967 Lysy had organized a series of tests with these musicians in the Bariloche Foundation's headquarters in a house called Soria Moria. The Camerata Bariloche performed its first concert at the Library Sarmiento de Bariloche on September 17, 1967. Teatro Argentino De La Plata
The Teatro Argentino de La Plata is the second most important lyric opera house in Argentina, after the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. The theatre is located in a central block of the city of La Plata, the capital of Buenos Aires Province. The venue occupies the block bounded by the 9 and 10 streets and 51 & 53 avenues; it belongs to the ''Monumental Axis'' of public buildings in La Plata. The original building The original building was a classic Italian opera house, conceived in Renaissance style by the Italian architect Leopoldo Rocchi. Construction began in 1887, five years after the foundation of the city of La Plata itself. The main hall had a capacity of ''ca.'' 1,500 seats.
