Pedro Osório
Pedro Osório is a Brazilian municipality in the southeastern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The population is 7,706 (2020 est.) in an area of 608.79 km². The municipality was founded on April 3, 1958 from parts of the municipalities of Canguçú and Arroio Grande. Cerrito was separated in 1997. The municipality is by the Piratini River. Its population is largely of Italian and Lebanese descent. Pelotas () is a Brazilian city and municipality (''município''), the third most populous in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is located 270 km (168 mi) from Porto Alegre, the state's capital city, and 130 km (80.8 mi) from the Uruguayan border. The Lagoa dos Patos lies to the east and the São Gonçalo Channel lies to the south, separating Pelotas from the city of Rio Grande. Herval
Herval is a Brazilian municipality in the southern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The population is 6,814 (2020 est.) in an area of 1757.84 km². Its elevation is 287 m. Its main industry is agriculture. Herval is situated south of the Piratini River, which was defined in 1777 as the border between the Spanish and Portuguese possessions. The current border between Uruguay and Brazil lies further south, at the Jaguarão River. Herval is famous for its international rodeo festival, organized every January. Piratini River
The River Piratini (Rio Piratini) is a Brazilian river in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. Until 1864 it marked, for most of its course, the accepted frontier between Uruguay and Brazil. The river rises at the watershed between the Río de la Plata Basin and the land that slopes directly to the Ocean. The headwaters are in the area of Jóia, from where the river's 120 km (75 mile) trajectory runs almost all the way to the Atlantic, separated from the ocean only by the São Gonçalo Channel and the associated lagoons on the coastal frontier separating Brazil from Uruguay. Arroio Grande (Portuguese meaning the big stream) is a Brazilian municipality in the southern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The population is 18,238 (2020 est.) in an area of 2513.60 km².
