Pedersker
Pedersker is a little village in the southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm, southeast of Aakirkeby and southwest of Nexø. As of 2023, it has 230 inhabitants. Description Pedersker is a quiet Danish village surrounded by farmed fields. To the north, beyond the former railway, the Lynggårdsskoven woods are managed by the State. The populated area is mainly in a triangular section between the main road and the railway, some 64% of the houses dating to before 1950. To the south of the village, the little fishing village of Bakkerne Havn has become an important summer house development. There is a private school in the village and the old dairy is considered to be of importance to the local heritage. The old railway station at 51 Pedersker Hovedgade served the Rønne–Nexø railway which ran from 1900 to 1968. Pedersker Kirkemølle
Pedersker Kirkemølle is a Dutch windmill located in the little village of Pedersker on the Danish island of Bornholm. It functioned until 1969. Description The Kirkemølle is the island's oldest standing stone mill. It dates from 1861 when it replaced a 150-year-old post mill on the same site. The cylindrical tower mill measured to the cap. Built of sandstone masony, it had a wooden cap and four floors. Originally it had common cloth sails but in 1899 they were replaced with self-regulating patent sails. Until 1908, the mill was rotated manually but after being heightened a further , it was equipped with a fantail. In 1932, a 34 hp Ruston & Hornsby diesel engine was installed. Rispebjerg
Risbebjerg is an archaeological site on the Danish island of Bornholm. Located 7 km west of Snogebæk on the road to Pedersker, it contains both the remains of a Neolithic sun temple and Iron Age earthworks. Description Bordered by the Øleådalen valley, the site is marked by Iron Age earthworks consisting of semicircular ramparts high and a dry ditch deep, dating back some 2,000 years. Aakirkeby
Aakirkeby or Åkirkeby is a town in Denmark with a population of 2,119 (1 January 2022). It is the third largest town on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. It was the main town of the now abolished Aakirkeby Municipality. The town is situated in the middle of the southern half of Bornholm, between Rønne and Nexø. The Danish TV-station TV2 has a local office (TV2/Bornholm) in Aakirkeby. Aakirkeby could be translated to "Stream Church town", as Å or Aa is a stream. Nexø
Nexø, sometimes spelled Neksø ( sv, Nexö), is a town on the east coast of the Baltic island of Bornholm, Denmark. With a population of 3,668 (as of 1 January 2022), it is the second largest town, as well as the largest fishing port on the island. Fishing was previously the mainstay of the town's economy. Nexø is also the site of a distillery (Bornholmske Spiritfabrik ApS) and a mustard factory (Bornholmersennep ApS). The town is also a port of call for the passenger ferries linking Bornholm with Kołobrzeg in Poland. Dueodde, the largest beach on Bornholm, is located south of Nexø, in the southeastern corner of the island. St Peter's Church, Bornholm
St. Peter's Church ( da, Sankt Peders Kirke) is a Romanesque parish church some 6 km east of Aakirkeby on the Danish island of Bornholm. It is thought to be the oldest church on the island.
