Pearl Mystic (Hookworms Album)
''Pearl Mystic'' is the first studio album and second long play record by British rock band Hookworms, released on 4 March 2013 on Gringo Records (UK), and later Weird World (Rest of World), an imprint of Domino. The album's namesake is pearl mystic turquoise, also the colour of the sleeve artwork. Critical reception The album received positive reviews on release, and was later named in end of year critics lists. It was named Loud and Quiet, BrooklynVegan, and Drowned in Sound's number one album of 2013. Hookworms (band)
Hookworms were an English five-piece neo-psychedelic rock band from Leeds/ Halifax that formed in 2010. Between 2010 and 2018 the band released 3 studio albums and became known for their live shows. Anonymous allegations of abuse by an unnamed woman that were reported by a third party against the band’s singer saw the dissolution of the Hookworms in 2018. Biography Hookworms released their first tape cassette EP on Sun Araw's Sun Ark/Magic Lantern label in August 2011. They were known for their live shows. They released live recordings (including a CD release of their WFMU live session) and several other releases through Gringo Records. (Thirty-Three and a Third) is a series of books, each about a single music album. The series title refers to the rotation speed of a vinyl LP, RPM. History Originally published by Continuum, the series was founded by editor David Barker in 2003. At the time, Continuum published a series of short books on literature called Continuum Contemporaries. One-time series editor Ally-Jane Grossan mentioned that Barker was "an obsessive music fan who thought, 'This is a really cool idea, why don't we apply this to albums'. ''PopMatters'' wrote that the range consists of "obscure classics to more usual suspects by the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones".
