Paulo José Lisboa
Paulo José Lisboa (1967 – February 4, 2022), known as The Chain Maniac (Portuguese: ''Maníaco da Corrente''), was a Brazilian serial killer who was convicted of killing eleven prostitutes in São Paulo and Espírito Santo from 1980 to 2000, with the latter killings occurring while he was a fugitive. Convicted and sentenced to 9 years imprisonment for the latter crimes, he was released in 2017 and left on supervision until his death. Crimes Lisboa, then a pharmaceutical salesman, committed his first crimes in the city of São José do Rio Preto between the 1980s and 1990s, where he was convicted of killing five people and beating up six others, for which he was given 18 years imprisonment. After serving only a part of his sentence, he managed to escape from the Franco da Rocha Psychiatric Prison in 1998 and fled to Espírito Santo, from where he intended to move to Bahia.
