Paula Sandoval
Paula E. Sandoval is a politician from Denver, Colorado. From 2002 to 2010, she served in the Colorado State Senate. She resigned from the State Senate in May 2010 after winning a special election to fill a vacant seat in District 1 of the Denver City Council. Colorado's 34th Senate district is one of 35 districts in the Colorado Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Julie Gonzales since 2019, succeeding fellow Democrat Lucía Guzmán. Geography District 34 covers western and northwestern Denver. The district is located entirely within Colorado's 1st congressional district, and overlaps with the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th districts of the Colorado House of Representatives. Lucía Guzmán
Lucía Guzmán (born 1945) is an American minister and politician who served in the Colorado Senate from the 34th district as a member of the Democratic Party from 2010 to 2019. Prior to her tenure in the state senate she served on the school board in Denver and led the Colorado Council of Churches. Guzmán was born to farm workers from Mexico and educated at Sam Houston State University and the Iliff School of Theology.
