Paul Weeden
Paul Winston Weeden (born 7 January 1923 in Indianapolis – 2 July 2011 in Oslo) was an American-Norwegian jazz guitarist and bandleader. Biography In his hometown he played Wes Montgomery and J. J. Johnson with his neighbor before moving to New York City and then Philadelphia. He led the Paul Weeden Trio with organist Don Patterson (organist), Don Patterson and drummer Billy James (musician), Billy James, and they released an album with Dexter Gordon and Sonny Stitt (Blue Note Records, 1962). He also played in bands of Coleman Hawkins and Jimi Hendrix in the 1960s. After touring in Sweden in 1966, he moved to Norway in 1971. With Magni Wentzel, Håkon Nilsen and Svein Christiansen he made the ''I Remember Clifford Brown, Clifford'' for European Broadcasting Union, EBU's "Eurojazz" (NRK, 1971). Bill Mulholland
William Mulholland (September 11, 1855 – July 22, 1935) was an Irish American self-taught civil engineer who was responsible for building the infrastructure to provide a water supply that allowed Los Angeles to grow into the largest city in California. As the head of a predecessor to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Mulholland designed and supervised the building of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, a system to move water from Owens Valley to the San Fernando Valley. The creation and operation of the aqueduct led to the disputes known as the California Water Wars. In March 1928, Mulholland's career came to an end when the St. Francis Dam failed just over 12 hours after he and his assistant gave it a safety inspection. Tom Olstad (born 13 April 1953 in Gjøvik, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz drummer who has performed on many recordings. Career Olstad has lived in Oslo since 1973, when he started his musical studies at Østlandets Musikkonservatorium and University of Oslo, with a graduate thesis on the ''Jazz Life in Oslo at the 1980's'' (1992). Odd Riisnæs (born 12 May 1953) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) and composer. He was born in Oslo, Norway, the son of pianist Eline Nygaard Riisnæs and the younger brother of jazz saxophonist Knut Riisnæs. He is known from a series of releases and cooperations with the likes of Dag Arnesen, Arve Henriksen, Kjell Karlsen, Geir Lysne, Iver Kleive, Nils Petter Molvær, Jon Eberson, Terje Gewelt, Jon Balke, Audun Kleive and Oslo 13 Career Riisnæs was in different orchestras led by Terje Lie, Paul Weeden, Ditlef Eckhoff, Richard Badendyck, Per Husby, Ole Jacob Hansen/Harald Gundhus, Dag Arnesen, Jens Wendelboe, Kjell Karlsen and Jan Harrington. Vidar Johansen (born 2 June 1953 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (tenor, soprano, baritone and alto saxophones, flute, bass clarinet), music arranger and composer. Biography Johansen is considered one of the most talented saxophonists emerging out of the Norwegian jazz scene in the 1970s. He started out early 1970 in a quartet with Jon Eberson, and collaborated with the Balke brothers. Frank Benjamin Foster III (September 23, 1928 – July 26, 2011) was an American tenor and soprano saxophonist, flautist, arranger, and composer.
