Paul Prince
Paul Prince (February 23, 1897 – December 17, 1949) was a merchant and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented The Battlefords from 1940 to 1944 and from 1948 to 1949 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Battleford, Saskatchewan, the son of Benjamin Prince and Ernestine Brassard, and was educated there and at St. Boniface College in Manitoba. He served in the air force during World War I. In 1928, he married Leona Hennessy. The Battlefords (provincial Electoral District)
The Battlefords is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It includes the city of North Battleford and the adjoining town of Battleford. Collectively these communities are commonly known as "The Battlefords". The district was first established in 1917 from the urban portions of the constituencies of Battleford and North Battleford. The district was contested in every election until 1995, when it was broken up into the re-created district of North Battleford and a new district, Battleford-Cut Knife. It was most recently contested in the 2020 election, when Saskatchewan Party candidate Jeremy Cockrill was elected. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. The Saskatchewan Liberal Party is a liberal political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The party was the provincial affiliate of the Liberal Party of Canada until 2009. Battleford, Saskatchewan
Battleford ( 2011 population 4,065) is a small town located across the North Saskatchewan River from the City of North Battleford, in Saskatchewan, Canada. Battleford and North Battleford are collectively referred to as "The Battlefords" by Saskatchewan residents, as well as on highway signage. Although there has been occasional talk of the two communities merging, as of 2012 they remain separate entities. The local economy is fuelled mainly by agriculture. Joseph Benjamin Prince
Joseph Benjamin Prince (April 29, 1855 – October 25, 1920) was a farmer, rancher and political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Battleford in the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from 1898 to 1905 as an Independent. Prince sat as a Liberal for Saskatchewan division in the Senate of Canada from 1909 to 1920 following his appointment by Sir Wilfrid Laurier.* He was born in St-Grégoire, Canada East, the son of Benjamin Prince and Louise Bourdage. He worked with a surveying corps for a time, then went to Winnipeg with his brother. He later moved further west to Battleford. Prince built the first sawmill there and, with a partner, the first flour mill. He also raised livestock and opened a department store in Battleford in 1898. In 1887, he married Ernestine Brassard. John Gregory (politician)
John Albert Gregory (9 September 1878 – 22 January 1955) was a Canadian politician, serving in municipal, provincial and federal governments. He was born in Exeter, Ontario and became a businessman and school principal by career. His father, Thomas Gregory, had been principal of the high school in Exter. After attending schools in Exeter, Goderich and London, he moved to western Canada for law studies. For twelve terms, he was mayor of the community of North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
