Paul Murphy (Irish Politician)
Paul Murphy (born 13 April 1983) is an Irish People Before Profit/Solidarity politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-West constituency since the 2014 Dublin South-West by-election. He served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Dublin constituency from 2011 to 2014. He was previously a member of the Socialist Party and Solidarity, but left in September 2019 to form a new party, RISE. In February 2021, RISE joined People Before Profit as a network, and Murphy became a TD for the party. Early life Murphy grew up in Goatstown, a suburb of Dublin. He attended St Kilian's German School in Clonskeagh and later the Institute Of Education on Leeson Street. His father Kieran Murphy was a senior manager at the Irish division of Mars. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). It is the equivalent of terms such as ''Member of Parliament'' (MP) or '' Member of Congress'' used in other countries. The official translation of the term is "Deputy to the Dáil", although a more literal translation is "Assembly Delegate". St Kilian's German School (Deutsche Schule Dublin - DSD) is an independent German international school in Dublin, Ireland. Programme St Kilian's is legally a single organisation, with a primary school, offering kindergarten (junior infants) and vorschule (senior infants) and main primary school (1st to 6th classes), and a secondary school. The post-2008 Irish economic downturn in the Republic of Ireland, coincided with a series of banking scandals, followed the 1990s and 2000s Celtic Tiger period of rapid real economic growth fuelled by foreign direct investment, a subsequent property bubble which rendered the real economy uncompetitive, and an expansion in bank lending in the early 2000s. The Tallaght University Hospital ( ga, Ospidéal Ollscoile Thamhlachta) is a teaching hospital in County Dublin, Ireland. Its academic partner is the Trinity College Dublin. It is managed by Dublin Midlands Hospital Group. Joe Higgins (politician)
Joe Higgins (born 20 May 1949) is an Irish former Socialist Party politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin West constituency from 1997 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2016. He served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Dublin constituency from 2009 to 2011. Early life One of nine children of a small farming family, Higgins was born in 1949 in Lispole, part of the Dingle Gaeltacht in County Kerry. He went to school in the Dingle Christian Brothers School, and after finishing he enrolled in the priesthood. As part of his training he was sent to a Catholic seminary school in Minnesota, United States in the 1960s. Higgins became politicised at the time of anti-Vietnam War protests and the civil rights movement. Michael Murphy (journalist)
Michael Murphy (born 1947) is an Irish journalist, newsreader, psychoanalyst and author. He works for RTÉ and is considered "one of the most popular voices on radio". Murphy is from Castlebar, County Mayo, and has lectured at St. Vincent's University Hospital and University College Dublin (UCD). He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007.
