Paul Milde (politician)
Paul Vincent Milde III (born 1967) is an American politician. A Republican Party of Virginia, Republican, he was elected to serve as the delegate of Virginia's 64th House of Delegates district, Virginia's 64th district in the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election. Career Stafford Board of Supervisors From 2006 to 2017, Milde served as the supervisor of the Aquia district on the Stafford County, Virginia, Stafford County Board of Supervisors. Milde was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2005, defeating the incumbent,[Kandy A. Hilliard. Milde would remain in the position until 2017 when he declined to run again for supervisor, instead running for the Virginia House of Delegates to represent Virginia's 28th House of Delegates district, Virginia's 28th district. Virginia's 64th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 64, located in Isle of Wight County, Prince George County Prince George County is a county (United States), county located in the Commonwealth (U.S. state), Commonwealth of Virginia. Robert M. "Bob" Thomas, Jr. is an American businessman, Marine Corps veteran, and former member of the Virginia House of Delegates. In 2017 he ran for the House of Delegates in the 28th district to succeed the retiring incumbent Speaker Bill Howell. After a very close race and multiple legal issues, Thomas was certified as the winner and was sworn in as scheduled on January 10, 2018. 2017 Virginia House Of Delegates Election
The Virginia House of Delegates election of 2017 was held on Tuesday, November 7. All 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates were contested. The Republican Party held a 66–34 majority in the House of Delegates before the election but lost 15 seats to the Democratic Party, resulting in the Republicans holding a 50–49 advantage. After a recount, the result of the election in the 94th district was called a tie. The candidate to hold the seat was determined by random drawing on January 4, 2018, which resulted in the Republicans holding a 51–49 majority. The election was marred by electoral irregularities, such as robocalls falsely telling voters their polling places had changed and voters being assigned to the wrong district. These irregularities led to lawsuits and a delay in the certification of the election results. The Virginia House of Delegates is one of the two parts of the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. It has 100 members elected for terms of two years; unlike most states, these elections take place during odd-numbered years.
