Paul Grist (comics)
Paul Grist (born 9 September 1960) is a British comic book creator, noted for his hard-boiled police series '' Kane'' and his unorthodox superhero series ''Jack Staff''. Biography Grist was born in Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. His first work was published in the 1980s by DC Thomson and Fleetway. His early work also includes '' St. Swithin's Day'' (written by Grant Morrison and published by Trident Comics), ''Grendel: Devil in Our Midst'' (written by Steven T. Seagle and published by Dark Horse Comics), and a Judge Dredd adventure, ''Kinky Boots'' authored by Robbie Morrison. He later founded his own publishing company, Dancing Elephant Press, under which ''Kane'' and ''Jack Staff'' were first published, but both titles later moved to Image Comics. He also published '' Burglar Bill'' under the Dancing Elephant umbrella (though it had partly appeared in an earlier form published by Trident Comics). Sheffield
Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire, England, whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Sheffield. It is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire and some of its southern suburbs were transferred from Derbyshire to the city council. It is the largest settlement in South Yorkshire. Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Andrea Di Vito
Andrea Di Vito (born May 28, 1971) is an Italian comic book artist. Biography Di Vito was born in Rome, and showed a love for drawing from an early age. His first published work appeared in the form of two short stories in the Italian magazine ''Intrepido''. He was first published in America in Marvel Comics' ''Marvel Shadows and Light'', with one of his pinups appearing in the comic book. Di Vito was asked to join the CrossGen staff as an associate penciller and became a fill-in artist for the comic books '' The First'' and '' Scion'', becoming the official penciller of the former six months later. The Union (comics)
The Union is a fictional UK superhero team that appear in comic books published by Marvel. The Union has both old and new superheroes within it, including British hero Union Jack and a major new character, Britannia, who leads the new team in its fight against the enemies they encounter. The Union appeared in the crossover event called ''King in Black'' alongside other well known comic book heroes and teams, and faced off against known foes and new foes not yet fought by any Marvel superhero or team. The first issue was released on 24 January 2008 and concluded on 16 December 2010 The United States version was due to be launched in February 2008. Titan Magazines announced in Issue 24 that the next issue would be the last for a while. Simon Christopher Francis Furman (born 22 March 1961) is a British comic book writer who is best known for his work on Hasbro's ''Transformers'' franchise, starting with writing Marvel's initial comic book to promote the toyline worldwide, as well as foundations for both Dreamwave Production's and IDW Publishing's takes on the ''Generation 1'' minifranchise. Career Furman was born in Carshalton, Surrey, and had no tertiary education. Furman is best known for his work on the ''Transformers'' comic by Marvel Comics. In geology, a rift is a linear zone where the lithosphere is being pulled apart and is an example of extensional tectonics. Typical rift features are a central linear downfaulted depression, called a graben, or more commonly a half-graben with normal faulting and rift-flank uplifts mainly on one side. Where rifts remain above sea level they form a rift valley, which may be filled by water forming a rift lake. ''Crisis'' was a British comic magazine published from September 1988 to October 1991 as an experiment by Fleetway to see if intelligent, mature, politically and socially-aware comics were saleable in the United Kingdom. The magazine was initially published fortnightly, and was one of the most visible components of the late-1980s British comics boom, along with ''Deadline'', ''Revolver'', and '' Toxic!''. History Conceived by editor Steve MacManus, ''Crisis'' would offer to make the work creator-owned, which might lead to the chance for royalties and greater copyright control, which was a departure from the way they had done business up until then.
