Paul Chaplet
Paul Chaplet (born 18 April 1999) is a Costa Rican professional golfer who is best known for winning the 2016 Latin America Amateur Championship, also gaining a spot in the 2016 Masters Tournament, becoming the first Costa Rican player to do so. Amateur career In January 2016, Chaplet won the Latin America Amateur Championship in the Dominican Republic, beating Venezuelan Jorge García by one shot. The win also gained him a spot in the 2016 Masters Tournament. Chaplet initially played college golf at Arizona State University from 2017 to 2020. He then played college golf at Sam Houston State University in 2020 and 2021, where he was named 2021 Southland Conference Co-Golfer of the year. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. From 2002 the teams have been three players with two counting. The 2004, 2010 and 2012 championships were reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather. The 2022 Eisenhower Trophy took place 31 August – 3 September at Le Golf National and Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche south-west of Paris, France. The 2018 Eisenhower Trophy took place 5–8 September at the Carton House Golf Club in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. It was the 31st World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 72 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team played two rounds on the Montgomerie and O'Meara courses. The leading teams played the Montgomerie course on the third day and the O'Meara course on the final day. Denmark won their first Eisenhower Trophy, a stroke ahead of the United States, who took the silver medal. Spain took the bronze medal while New Zealand, who led after 54 holes, finished fourth. The Sam Houston Bearkats are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Sam Houston State University, located in Huntsville, Texas. Sam Houston's colors are orange and white.
