Crucible Theatre
The Crucible Theatre (often referred to simply as "The Crucible") is a theatre in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England which opened in 1971. Although it hosts regular theatrical performances, it is best known for hosting professional snooker's most prestigious tournament, the World Snooker Championship, which has been held annually at the venue since 1977. Its name is a reference to the local steel industry. In May 2022 plans were unveiled to build a new 3,000-seater venue nearby with a bridge connecting the two buildings. Michael Judge
Michael Judge (born 12 January 1975 in Dublin) is a professional snooker player from the Republic of Ireland. His best performance in a ranking event came in the 2004 Grand Prix, where he reached the semi-finals, and he reached his highest ranking, 24th, for the 2002–03 season. He returned to the professional tour having gained a two-year card at 2021 Q School. Career Judge qualified for the World Championship three times, his best performance coming in the 2001 tournament, after knocking Jimmy White out in qualifying and John Parrott in the first round, before being knocked out by fellow Dubliner Ken Doherty. Les Dodd
Les Dodd (born 11 February 1954) is an English former professional snooker player. He was runner-up in the 1987 English Professional Championship. Career Dodd was born on 11 February 1954 in Stockport, and turned professional in 1982. In his first professional season, he reached the televised stages of the 1983 World Snooker Championship, where he lost 7–10 to Eddie Charlton. Dodd's only professional final was the 1987 English Professional Championship; there, he was defeated 9–5 by Tony Meo, having earlier eliminated Tony Knowles, Barry West, Mike Hallett and reigning World Champion Joe Johnson. Nick Terry
Nick Terry (born 15 September 1967) is an English people, English former professional snooker player from Finchley. Career Terry turned professional in 1988, losing his first match, at the 1988 International Open, 2–5 to Colin Roscoe. In his first season, Terry reached the last 32 of the 1989 Classic, where he led Doug Mountjoy 4–3 but lost 4–5. His performances in the following several seasons were not successful, but in the 1991–92 season, he reached the last 32 in two events - the 1991 UK Championship, where he lost 7–9 to Neal Foulds having led 5–1 and 6–3, and the 1992 European Open, where Martin Clark (snooker player), Martin Clark defeated him 5–3. Neal Foulds
Neal Foulds (born 13 July 1963) is an English former professional snooker player and six-time tournament winner, including the 1986 International Open, the 1988 Dubai Masters and the 1992 Scottish Masters, as well as the invitational Pot Black in 1992. He was the runner up for the UK Championships in 1986, the British Open in 1987 and reached the semi finals of the Masters on three occasions, as well as the World Championship. After his retirement, Foulds became a commentator for the BBC and is currently part of the presenting team for ITV and Eurosport. Career The son of snooker professional Geoff Foulds, he began playing the game at the age of 11 and by the early 1980s was already one of the strongest players in his area. Tony Drago (born 22 September 1965) is a Maltese former professional snooker and pool player. Known for his speed around the table, during his snooker career he won two professional titles: the 1993 Strachan Challenge Event 3 and the 1996 Guangzhou Masters. He later switched his focus to pool and won the 2003 World Pool Masters beating Hsia Hui-kai 8–6 and the 2008 Predator International 10-ball Championship beating Francisco Bustamante 13–10. Drew Henry (born 24 November 1968) is a Scottish former professional snooker player, who spent five consecutive seasons of his career in the top 32 of the rankings, peaking at No. 18. Career A strong amateur, Henry won the 1988 Scottish Amateur Championship and reached the Semi-Finals of the World Amateur Championship in the same year.
