Paul Vincent Carroll
Paul Vincent Carroll (10 July 1900 – 20 October 1968) was an Irish dramatist and writer of movie scenarios and television scripts. Carroll was born in Blackrock, County Louth, Ireland and trained as a teacher at St Patrick's College, Dublin and settled in Glasgow in 1921 as a teacher. Several of his plays were produced by the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. He co-founded, with Grace Ballantine and Molly Urquhart, the Curtain Theatre Company in Glasgow.Murdoch, ''Travelling Hopefully: The Story of Molly Urquhart'', Edinburgh, 1981. Personal life Carroll and his wife, clothing designer Helena Reilly, had three daughters; the youngest was actress Helena Carroll (1928–2013). He also had a son, Brian Francis, born in 1945. Paul Carroll (poet)
Paul Carroll (July 15, 1927 – August 31, 1996) was an American poet and the founder of the Poetry Center of Chicago. A professor for many years at the University of Illinois at Chicago and professor emeritus, his books include ''Poem in Its Skin'' and ''Odes''. While a student, he was an editor of ''Chicago Review''. In 1985 he won the Chicago Poet's Award, and the city published his book "The Garden of Earthly Delights". His papers, ''The Paul Carroll Papers'', are archived in the Special Collection Research Center at the University of Chicago Library. Among those papers are documents between Carroll's buddy, fellow poet and critic James Dickey, where Mr. Dickey states that Paul's late poetry was his best. One of these late poems, "Song After Making Love" was published in 2008 by Cold Mountain Review at Appalachian State University. Early life Carrol was born and raised in Chicago. Rear admiral (Royal Navy), Rear Admiral Paul Christopher Carroll, (born 1970), is a senior Royal Navy Engineer Officer (Royal Navy), officer who currently serves as Director of Innovation and Future Capability at the UK Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom), Ministry of Defence. Naval career After graduating from Britannia Royal Naval College at Dartmouth, Devon, Dartmouth, Carroll was commissioned in the Royal Navy in 1991. Promoted to Captain (Royal Navy), Captain on 6 October 2014, then Commodore in 2018, he became Rear admiral (Royal Navy), Rear Admiral on 2 August 2021, and Director of Innovation and Future Capability at Defence Equipment and Support, MoD Defence Equipment and Support.
