Paul Berezney
Paul Lawrence Berezney (born September 25, 1915 – March 29, 1990) was an American football offensive tackle in the National Football League. He played 31 games for the Green Bay Packers between 1942 and 1944, starting in 23. Berezney was the starting right tackle for the Packers in the 1944 NFL Championship Game. After leaving the NFL in 1944, Berezney played in one game for the Miami Seahawks of the All-America Football Conference in 1946. His brother Pete Berezney also played in the AAFC. The 1944 NFL Championship Game was the 12th National Football League (NFL) title game, played on December 17 at the Polo Grounds in New York City, with an attendance of 46,016. The game featured the Green Bay Packers (8–2), champions of the Western Division versus the Eastern Division champion New York Giants (8–1–1). The Packers were led by longtime head coach Curly Lambeau and its stars were running back Ted Fritsch, end Don Hutson, and quarterback Irv Comp. The Giants were led by head coach Steve Owen, running back Bill Paschal, former Packers quarterback Arnie Herber, and a dominant defense. The Packers were slight favorites, despite the Giants' 24–0 shutout win four weeks earlier. Pete Berezney
Peter James Berezney (November 14, 1923 – October 13, 2008) was an American football tackle who played two seasons in the All-America Football Conference with the Los Angeles Dons and Baltimore Colts. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round of the 1946 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame and attended William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. College career Berezney played for he Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 1943 to 1945. He was a starter his senior year in 1945. The All-America Football Conference (AAFC) was a professional American football league that challenged the established National Football League (NFL) from 1946 to 1949. One of the NFL's most formidable challengers, the AAFC attracted many of the nation's best players, and introduced many lasting innovations to the game. However, the AAFC was ultimately unable to sustain itself in competition with the NFL.
