Paul Andréota

	Paul Andréota Paul Andréota (11 December 1917 – 14 November 2007) was a French novelist and screenwriter. He was also known under the pen name Paul Vance. Biography Paul Andréota was born in La Rochelle in the Charente-Maritime department (when the department was then known as Charente-Inférieure). When he was 12 years old, his father died, and he and his family moved to Paris. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and entering the École Normale Supérieure, he started studying music, particularly piano and composition, at the conservatory; he was a big fan of jazz. The onset of World War II changed Andréota's life dramatically. He spent part of the period of the German occupation of France in Marseille, which became the setting for his first novel after the war, ''Hors Jeu'' (lit. "Offside"), published by Grasset in 1947. 	Éditions Julliard Éditions Julliard is a French publishing house. It was founded in 1942 by René Julliard. Julliard was known as a discoverer and publisher of talents, in particular Françoise Sagan and Jean d'Ormesson. After Julliard's death in July 1962, the managing director, Christian Bourgois, took over the publishing house. Éditions Julliard was soon repurchased by the publishing house Presses de la Cité. Christian Bourgois created his own publishing house in 1966. 	André Michel (director) André Michel (7 November 1907 – 5 June 1989) was a French film director and screenwriter. He directed 15 films between 1947 and 1983. 	Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia (8 July 1894 – 4 January 1998) was an Italian film director whose career spanned from the 1930s to the mid-1960s. He mainly directed adventure pictures and popular comedies, including some starring Totò. Biography Bragaglia was born in Frosinone, Latium, and was a veteran of World War I. He was wounded in action, and subsequently received a medal.
