André Michel (director)
André Michel (7 November 1907 – 5 June 1989) was a French film director and screenwriter. He directed 15 films between 1947 and 1983. He is the father of novelist Natacha Michel who is also a political activist and militant. Rune Lindström (screenwriter)
Gustaf Rune Lindström (28 April 1916 – 25 April 1973) was a Swedish screenwriter and actor. He wrote for more than 30 films between 1942 and 1971. Biography Rune Lindström was a scriptwriter, poet, illustrator, director and actor. He had intended to become a priest and began studying theology at Uppsala University, but interrupted his studies when he had an unexpectedly great success with ''The Heavenly Play''. At the play's premiere in 1941 in the university hall in Uppsala, he played the lead role himself. Lindström went on to write three well-known plays in Dalarna; in addition to ''The Heavenly Play'', which has been performed in Leksand every summer since 1949, he also wrote ''Ingmarsspelen'' in Nås in 1959 and ''Skinnarspelet'', which has been the opening act of the midsummer celebrations in Malung since its premiere in June 1967. ''Olesya'' (russian: Олеся) is a 1971 drama film directed by Boris Ivchenko based on a screenplay by Vasily Dulgerov. Adapted from the Aleksandr Kuprin's 1898 homonymous novel. Plot Wandering through the forest, Ivan Timofeyevich finds a dilapidated hut on the edge of the swamp. There lives an old woman with her beautiful granddaughter Olesya. Many years prior, the local peasants, considering the woman a witch, burned down her house, killing her daughter. Olesya is fascinated by Ivan, who is in turn conquered by the power of the girl's feelings, by her openness and the purity of her soul. Eventually, he falls in love with Olesya. The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1951 and originally run in June, the festival has been held every February since 1978 and is one of the " Big Three" alongside the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Cannes Film Festival in France. Tens of thousands of visitors attend each year. About 400 films are shown at multiple venues across Berlin, mostly in and around Potsdamer Platz. 6th Berlin International Film Festival
The 6th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 22 June to 3 July 1956. The FIAPF granted the festival the "A status" during this year, which was previously only reserved for Cannes and Venice. The awards for the first time, were given by an international jury. The Golden Bear was awarded to '' Invitation to the Dance'' directed by Gene Kelly. However, this decision by the jury was widely criticized as the fil was considered "too shallow" for a Golden Bear. The favourite among many critics was the Finnish entry '' Tuntematon sotilas'' by Edvin Laine, which was an anti-war film without any illusions based on a novel by Väinö Linna. Naima Wifstrand
Naima Wifstrand (; 4 September 1890 – 23 October 1968) was a Swedish film actress, operetta singer, troubadour, director and composer. In her later years, she was cast in several supporting roles in Ingmar Bergman films. Biography Born Siri Naima Matilda Wifstrand in Stockholm in 1890, she was raised by her mother in Fleminggatan. Wifstrand never trained acting but learned the art thoroughly when she in 1905 joined the Anna Lundberg Theatre Company, a well reputed and respected theatre company in Sweden at the time. She travelled with them for a number of years, appearing in small parts and in extra parts. This eventually led her to small parts at theatres in Helsinki and around Stockholm. But at this time Wifstrand did not have her mind set on acting, instead she sought to be a singer.
