Patterson, Kansas
Patterson is an unincorporated community in Harvey County, Kansas, United States. It is located 5 miles south of Burrton at SW 84th St and S Patterson Rd. History Patterson was named for James Patterson, an early settler in Lake Township, Harvey County, Kansas. L.A. Hamlin "surveyed and laid out" the Patterson town site September 25, 1888, on land owned by Dr. Thomas S. Hunt (1830-1900) and Susan Barbee Hunt (1841-1920). In 1887, Dr. Hunt deeded land for right-of-way to the Kansas Midland Railroad Company. He developed the town and sold building lots. Patterson became a station on a railroad segment of St. Louis–San Francisco Railway that ran from Wichita to Burrton. Two passenger trains a day passed through Patterson. A post office was opened in Patterson in 1888, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1927. Bentley, Kansas
Bentley is a city in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. It is named in honor of the city's founder Orsemus Hills Bentley. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 560. History In 1887, the Kansas Midland Railway was built from Wichita to Ellsworth, a distance of 107 miles, and the building of this line bisected Eagle township and established a depot and town on section 11, Eagle township. Burrton is a city in Harvey County, Kansas, United States. It is named after Isaac T. Burr, former vice-president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Area Code 620
Area code 620 covers telephone exchanges in most of southern Kansas. It was created as the result of a split from 316 on February 3, 2001. The area code stretches across the southern half of the state, from the Colorado border in the west to the Missouri border in the east. It completely surrounds 316, which now only serves Wichita and its inner suburbs, making it one of the six pairs of "doughnut area codes" in the numbering plan. Permissive dialing of 316 across southern Kansas continued until November 3, 2001. The most populous cities covered by the area code are Dodge City, Garden City, Hutchinson and Pittsburg. 620 was created due to the growing proliferation of cell phones in the Wichita area.
