Patten (always written in lowercase, patten) is the pseudonym of a London-based electronic experimental musician and audiovisual artist. Music Patten began as an electronic music project by a London based musician calling himself ''D''. While running a record label called Kaleidoscope, he released music on CD-Rs since 2006. The first official patten LP GLAQJO XAACSSO was released in September 2011 through UK label, No Pain in Pop. In November 2013 patten signed to Warp Records, releasing the EOLIAN INSTATE EP soon after in an edition of 500 12" picture discs, with artwork by frequent visual collaborator Jane Eastlight (revealed in 2022 via social media by patten to be another pseudonym). Patten (shoe)
Pattens are protective overshoes that were worn in Europe from the Middle Ages until the early 20th century. Pattens were worn outdoors over a normal shoe, had a wooden or later wood and metal sole, and were held in place by leather or cloth bands. Pattens functioned to elevate the foot above the mud and dirt (including human effluent and animal dung) of the street, in a period when road and urban paving was minimal. Etymology The word ''patten'' probably derives from the Old French ''patte'' meaning hoof or paw. Women continued to wear pattens in muddy conditions until the 19th or even early 20th century. In appearance, they may resemble contemporary clogs or sandals, but though historical usage was apparently not always consistent, the term now is used only to describe protective overshoes worn over another pair of shoes. The Patten River is a tributary of the Turgeon River, which flows into the Harricana River in Canada; the latest flows to the southern shore of James Bay. Patten, Maine
Patten is a small town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 881. The village of Patten is in the northeast part of the town. History The town was named for Amos Patten, a resident of Bangor, Maine, who about 1828 purchased Township No. 4, Range 6, as it was then designated, for its vast timber supply. In 1829 Amos Patten hired Ira Fish and Eli Kellogg to survey the land. The surveyors soon asked permission to establish their homes in Patten. The town was incorporated on April 16, 1841 and given its present name at that time. By 1850 the population numbered 470, reaching 704 in 1870, and 716 residents in 1880. The town's infrastructure gradually appeared. In March, 1841 the Congregational Church was organized. Within a few years, citizens began agitating for local education.
