Pattabhirami Reddy Tikkavarapu
Tikkavarapu Pattabhirama Reddy (19 February 1919 – 6 May 2006) was an Indian film screenwriter, producer, director, social activist, poet, and writer known for his pioneering works in Telugu cinema, and Kannada cinema. Reddy has received three National Film Awards for his works. In 1972 he produced and directed '' Samskara'' which garnered the National Film Award for Best Feature Film and Bronze Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. Reddy has actively participated the Indian Emergency opposition movement, human rights movement, and child labor movements as founder member of People's Union for Civil Liberties. In 1977, he produced and directed the bilingual ''Chandamarutha'' in Kannada, and English. The film was banned during the Emergency, and was later released to critical appreciation. Nellore is a city located on the banks of Penna River, in Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) is a human rights body formed in India in 1976 by Jayaprakash Narayan, as the People's Union for Civil Liberties and Democratic Rights (PUCLDR). Background Indian emergency Jayaprakash Narayan was a Gandhian leader in India after independence. When Indira Gandhi was found guilty of violating electoral laws by the Allahabad High Court, Narayan called for her to resign, and advocated a program of social transformation. He asked the military and police to disregard unconstitutional and immoral orders. The National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu is one of the National Film Awards presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India. ''Sri Krishnarjuna Yuddhamu'' () is a 1963 Indian Telugu language, Telugu-language Hindu mythological film, produced and directed by K. V. ''Pellinaati Pramanalu'' () is a 1958 Indian Telugu-language comedy drama film, produced and directed by K. V. Reddy. It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Jamuna, with music composed by Ghantasala.
