Patrycja Planik
Patrycja Płanik is a Polish photographer, visual artist and actress. Career Patrycja Płanik studied photography at the National Film School in Łódź. She co-created the independent contemporary dance festival The International Maat Festival in Poland. She produced and created Dance.doc, a series of short documentaries about dancers connected to this festival. The project was realized in Poland, Japan, and Israel. Her projects were supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Cricoteka, the Center for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor and The International Maat Festival. She cooperated, among others, with the Nowy Teatr Kazimierz Dejmek in Łódź, Teatr Nowy in Poznań and TR Warszawa. In 2016 she was cast for the title role in Andreas Horvath’s feature film Lillian (film), produced by Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Seidl. Tadeusz Kantor
Tadeusz Kantor (6 April 1915 – 8 December 1990) was a Polish painter, assemblage and Happenings artist, set designer and theatre director. Kantor is renowned for his revolutionary theatrical performances in Poland and abroad. Laureate of Witkacy Prize – Critics' Circle Award (1989). Life and career Kantor was born to Marian Kantor-Mirski and Helena Berger. His family were staunch Catholics. His mother was related to composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki, through her German father. Born in Wielopole Skrzyńskie, Galicia (then in Austria-Hungary, now in Poland), Kantor graduated from the Cracow Academy in 1939. During the Nazi occupation of Poland, he founded the Independent Theatre, and served as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków as well as a director of experimental theatre in Kraków from 1942 to 1944. Kazimierz Dejmek
Kazimierz Dejmek (17 May 1924 – 31 December 2002) was a Polish actor, theatre and film director, and politician. During his career he managed the New Theatre in Łódź (since 2008 named after him), the National Theatre, Warsaw, and the Teatr Polski, Warsaw. From 1993 to 1996 he served as Poland's Minister of Culture. In 1984 Dejmek was awarded the Witkacy Prize - Critics' Circle Award and in 1989 the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, one of his country's highest honours. Andreas Horvath (born 25 August 1968) is an Austrian photographer and filmmaker. Career Andreas Horvath studied photography at the "Graphische Bundes- Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt" in Vienna (1990-1992) and film at the Multimedia Art School in Salzburg (1996-2000). He worked as an assistant of the US photographers Ernestine Ruben and Linda Troeller. Ulrich Maria Seidl (born 24 November 1952 in Vienna) is an Austrian film director, writer and producer. Among other awards, his film ''Dog Days'' won the Grand Jury Prize at Venice in 2001. Lillian Alling
Lillian Alling (1896 – after 1929) was an Eastern European immigrant to the United States, who in the 1920s attempted a return by foot to her homeland. Her four-year-long journey started in New York, and went westward across Canada, then north through British Columbia, the Yukon, and then west again through Alaska. Whether she successfully crossed the Bering Strait to Russia is unknown. Journey Because her first appearance in official records was September 10, 1927, when she was arraigned in Hazelton, details before that, including her birth, emigration, and early journey, are impossible to confirm. Alling probably was born in either Russia or Poland some time around 1900. Cassandra Pybus speculates that she was Jewish, based on contemporary searches for similar names, emigrating from Belorussia via Poland in the 1920s.
