Patrick Ah Van
Patrick Ah Van (born 17 March 1988) is a Samoa international rugby league footballer who plays as a er for the Oldham RLFC in RFL League 1. He previously played for the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL, and for the Bradford Bulls and the Widnes Vikings in the Super League. Ah Van also spent time on loan from Widnes at North Wales in the third tier. He also had another spell with the Vikings in the Betfred Championship and played for Villeghailhenc-Aragon XIII in the Elite 2 Championship. Early life Ah Van was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He is of Samoan and Chinese descent. His brothers Tom and Ralph are also rugby league players with Tom previously playing for the Warriors Under 20s, and Ralph an ex Vulcans player. Auckland Vulcans
The Auckland Vulcans were an Auckland based rugby league club that participated in the New South Wales Cup. They were administered by the Rugby League Development Foundation. The team was selected from the Auckland Rugby League's Fox Memorial Competition and also used New Zealand Warriors squad members not selected for NRL duty. In 2007 the team was known as the Auckland Lions. In 2011 the Vulcans made their first appearance in a grand final, eventually going down to the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs. They were replaced in the NSW Cup in 2014 by the New Zealand Warriors, who submitted their own team. Auckland Lions
The Auckland Lions were a rugby league club that had teams in both the New Zealand Bartercard Cup and the NSWRL Premier League. They were mostly drawn from the Mt Albert Lions Rugby League club. Mt Albert had a proud tradition in Auckland and had previously won two Bartercard Cup competitions as a stand-alone club. The Bartercard franchise wore a yellow jersey with a blue V, while the Premier League side wore royal blue jerseys with a white V. Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Sydney's Northern Beaches. The team colours are maroon and white, while their namesake and logo is the sea eagle. They compete in Australia's premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL). The Bartercard Cup (successor of the Lion Red Cup) was the top level rugby league club competition in New Zealand from 2000 until 2007. For the entire life of the tournament it was sponsored by Bartercard. The cup was administered by the New Zealand Rugby League. The tournament was discontinued by the NZRL in 2007 and was replaced by the Bartercard Premiership in 2008. Franchises The format of the competition changed several times over the life of the competition and in total 24 clubs or franchises competed. Mount Albert Lions
The Mount Albert Lions are a rugby league club based in Mount Albert, New Zealand. The Lions home ground is at Fowlds Park. Their patron is the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark. In 2008 and 2009 the Lions won the Fox Memorial. As of 2019 the team is coached by John Ackland. History The club was founded in 1928, after a meeting was held in April of that year. The Auckland Rugby League (ARL) is the governing body for the sport of rugby league in the Auckland Region of New Zealand.
