Auckland Vulcans
The Auckland Vulcans were an Auckland based rugby league club that participated in the New South Wales Cup. They were administered by the Rugby League Development Foundation. The team was selected from the Auckland Rugby League's Fox Memorial Competition and also used New Zealand Warriors squad members not selected for NRL duty. In 2007 the team was known as the Auckland Lions. In 2011 the Vulcans made their first appearance in a grand final, eventually going down to the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs. They were replaced in the NSW Cup in 2014 by the New Zealand Warriors, who submitted their own team. Players Four players have played for the Vulcans and the Junior Warriors and then gone on to make their National Rugby League debut with the New Zealand Warriors. Mount Smart Stadium
Mount Smart Stadium (formerly known as Ericsson Stadium) is a multipurpose stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the main home ground of the New Zealand Warriors of the National Rugby League, and occasionally hosts rugby union and international rugby league matches. Built within the quarried remnants of the Rarotonga / Mount Smart volcanic cone, it is located 10 kilometres south of the city centre, in the suburb of Penrose. History The Mount Smart Domain Board was established in 1943 with the purpose of transforming the former quarry site into a public reserve. Aidan Kirk
Aidan Kirk (born 16 March 1986) is a professional rugby league footballer who last played in the National Rugby League for the New Zealand Warriors. Early years Educated at St Edward's College in his hometown of Gosford on the Central Coast, Kirk played Jim Beam Cup for The Ourimbah Magies was picked up to play SG Ball and lower grades for the Newcastle Knights. He then joined the Roosters but did not break into first grade due to the dominance of Anthony Minichello. Instead Kirk played in the NSWRL Premier League under coach Ivan Cleary, and was eventually made captain of the side. In 2006 the Roosters signed a feeder arrangement with the Newtown Jets and Kirk played for the Jets in the Premier League. Willie Swann (born 1974) is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer and coach of Samoan heritage. He currently coaches the Auckland Vulcans in the New South Wales Cup. Ruben James Wiki (born 21 January 1973) is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. A New Zealand international representative centre-turned-prop forward, he retired with the record for most international appearances of any rugby league player in history.
