{{Short description, Arena for inline speed skating A patinodrome is an arena for inline speed skating. They are oval tracks similar to velodromes used for track cycling, but have flat straights and shallow-banked or no banked curves. They are typically outdoors or under cover with open or partial walls. Patinodromes are common in Europe, but rare in North America. Design A patinodrome is generally about 160m to 250m in circumference and may be surfaced with asphalt, concrete or similar material. The curves may be banked. Inline Speed Skating
Inline speed skating is the roller sport of racing on inline skates. The sport may also be called ''inline racing'' by participants. Although it primarily evolved from racing on traditional roller skates, the sport is similar enough to ice speed skating that many competitors are known to switch between inline and ice speed skating according to the season. Velodromes
A velodrome is an arena for track cycling. Modern velodromes feature steeply banked oval tracks, consisting of two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straights. The straights transition to the circular turn through a moderate easement curve. History The first velodromes were constructed during the late 1870s, the oldest of which is Preston Park Velodrome, Brighton, United Kingdom, built in 1877 by the British Army. Some were purpose-built just for cycling, and others were built as part of facilities for other sports; many were built around athletics tracks or other grounds and any banking was shallow. Track Cycling
Track cycling is a bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. These velodromes consisted of two straights and slightly banked turns, though they varied more in length and material than the modern 250m track. One appeal of indoor track racing was that spectators could be easily controlled, and hence an entrance fee could be charged, making track racing a lucrative sport. Early track races attracted crowds of up to 2,000 people. Indoor tracks also enabled year-round cycling for the first time. Valence, Tarn-et-Garonne
Valence (; oc, Valença d'Agen), also known as Valence-d'Agen, is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region in southern France. Geography Valence is located from Agen, from Montauban, from Cahors, 90 km from Toulouse and from Bordeaux. The departmental road D813 passes through the town. Until 2008 the road, which runs between Toulouse and Bordeaux, was classified as a National Road N113. Exit 8 off the autoroute A62, which also runs between Bordeaux and Toulouse, lies a few kilometres south of town. The Patinódromo Municipal Adalberto Lugea is an outdoor roller rink and patinodrome in Mar del Plata, Argentina. It is mostly used for inline speed skating competitions but has also hosted tennis tournaments and concerts. History Roller sports are very popular in Mar del Plata since the early 60s, and in 1966 the city hosted the first World Championship of inline speed skating on road surface held out of Europe. The municipal skating rink was opened in 1969 to host a second world championship, this time on track surface. The original building had only two stands, one in front of the other, on the sides of the track. After 1969, this venue hosted again the world championship in 1978, 1983 and 1997, this last time including road and track events.
