Paththini (2016 Film)
''Paththini'' (පත්තිනි) is a 2016 Sinhala epic, drama, mystery film written and directed by Sunil Ariyarathna and produced by Dr. Milina Sumathipala, co-produced by Jagath Sumathipala and Thilanga Sumathipala on behalf of Sumathi Films. The film features Pooja Umashankar, and Uddika Premarathna in the leading roles while Ravindra Randeniya, Lucky Dias, Veena Jayakody, and Aruni Rajapaksha in supporting roles. The film starts its premier on 5 May 2016 in EAP Circuit film halls. Plot The film is based on a love affair between Kannagi (by Pooja Umashankar), and Kovalan (by Uddika Premarathna) in the Tamil epic Silappatikaram. More than 2000 years ago, South India was divided into three Tamil kingdoms named as Chola, Pandya and Chera. Vidyodaya Vibhushana Sahithya Kala Shiromani Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne Kuruwita Bandara (born 28 July 1949 as :si:සුනිල් ආරියරත්න, සුනිල් ආරියරත්න), popularly as Sunil Ariyaratne, is a Sri Lankan scholar, film director, author, poet and a lyricist. One of the most popular filmmakers and lyricists in Sri Lankan cinema, Ariyaratne has won six Sarasaviya awards, four Presidential awards from the year 1981 as a film lyricist and then won three awards as a teledrama lyricists. Chola
The Chola dynasty was a Tamils, Tamil thalassocratic Tamil Dynasties, empire of southern India and one of the longest-ruling dynasties in the history of the world. The earliest datable references to the Chola are from inscriptions dated to the 3rd century BCE during the reign of Ashoka of the Maurya Empire. Sinhala ( ; , ''siṁhala'', ), sometimes called Sinhalese (), is an Indo-Aryan language primarily spoken by the Sinhalese people of Sri Lanka, who make up the largest ethnic group on the island, numbering about 16 million. Miyuri Samarasinghe
Wijeratne Miyuri Samarasinghe (15 March 1939 – 6 February 2021: as si, මියුරි සමරසිංහ), popularly as Miyuri Samarasinghe, was an actress in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. Apart from acting, she also worked as a dancer, scriptwriter, producer and director. She was serving as the President of Sudarshi Institute. Personal life She was born on 15 March 1939 in Moratuwa. She first attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, Moratuwa and then went to Musaeus College. At the age of 14, she was able to perform upcountry and low country dances under the guidance of Jayantha Algama. Therefore, she was selected to perform the middle and end dances of the monthly radio show. She worked for the Sinhala Cultural Institute (Sudarsi) as a teacher, holding various positions. Sampath Tennakoon (20 June 1959 – 3 December 2021: සම්පත් තෙන්නකෝන් inhala, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. Personal life Sampath Tennakoon was born on 20 June 1959. He was from Isipathana College, Colombo. He was married to fellow actress Rathna Lalani Jayakody. They first met during a stage drama ''Puthra Samagama'' and then in ''Suba Sandewak''. They have acted in more than 50 stage dramas together. Geetha Kanthi Jayakody is the sister of Rathna Lalani, who is a renowned award-winning actress in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television.
