Pathshala
Drik Picture Library is a photography agency and picture library based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Background Drik Picture Library was established in 1989 by Bangladeshi writer and photographer Shahidul Alam and Bangladeshi writer and anthropologist Rahnuma Ahmed. The name is Sanskrit for 'vision'. It was set up to provide a platform for local photographers to publish internationally and provides various media services. Drik is associated with Alam's other large project: Majority World which aims to promote photographers from the global south and ensure fair compensation for their work. Munem Wasif
Munem Wasif ( bn, মুনেম ওয়াসিফ) (born 11 April 1983) is a photographer from Bangladesh. Biography Munem Wasif is a documentary photographer in Bangladesh. He has been represented by Agence Vu since 2008, and is now teaching documentary photography at Pathshala South Asian Media Academy. He was selected for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in 2007. In 2008, he won the City of Perpignan Young Reporter's Award at Visa pour l'image. That year, he also won the International Award for concerned photography, the F25 for under-25's in the Fabrica awards. The following year, he was awarded the Prix Pictet commission for his work on the water crisis of the north-west region of Bangladesh. Andrew Biraj ( bn, এন্ড্রু বিরাজ; born 1982) is a Bangladeshi photojournalist. Biography Andrew Biraj is a Bangladeshi photojournalist currently based in Washington DC. Biraj has worked for the international news agencies Reuters, AFP, ''The New York Times'', Sipa Press and Getty Images. Shahidul Alam
Shahidul Alam (born 1955) is a Bangladeshi photojournalist, teacher and social activist. He has been a photographer for more than forty years and "his photographs have been published in almost every major western media outlet". Alam founded the Drik Picture Library in 1989, the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka in 1998, "which has trained hundreds of photographers", and the Chobi Mela International Photography Festival in 1999. Alam is a visiting professor at the University of Sunderland in the UK. His books include ''Nature's Fury'' (2007) and ''My Journey as a Witness'' (2011). In 2014 he was awarded the Shilpakala Padak by the President of Bangladesh and in 2018 the Humanitarian Award from the Lucie Awards.
