Patrick Moore
Sir Patrick Alfred Caldwell-Moore (; 4 March 1923 – 9 December 2012) was an English amateur astronomer who attained prominence in that field as a writer, researcher, radio commentator and television presenter. Moore was president of the British Astronomical Association; co-founder and president of the Society for Popular Astronomy; author of over seventy books on astronomy; and presenter of the world's longest-running television series with the same original presenter, BBC's ''The Sky at Night'' (from 1957). He became known as a specialist in Moon observation and for creating the Caldwell catalogue. Idiosyncrasies such as his rapid diction and monocle made him a popular and instantly recognisable figure on British television. Patrick D. Moore (born 1867) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Cork senior team. Moore made his first appearance for the team during the 1889 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen for the next two seasons. Paddy Moore
Paddy Moore (4 August 1909 – 24 July 1951) was an Irish professional footballer who played for, among others, Shamrock Rovers and Aberdeen. Moore was a dual internationalist and played for both Ireland teams – the FAI XI and the IFA XI. In February 1934 Moore scored four goals for the FAI XI in a World Cup qualifier against Belgium. As a result, he became the first player ever to score four goals in a World Cup game. However injury and alcoholism combined to blight both his career and life and he was only 41 when he died. In September 2006 Moore was posthumously honoured by Shamrock Rovers at their Legends Ball. Club career As a youth Moore played for several teams including Richmond Rovers before joining Shamrock Rovers for the first of three spells. Sir Patrick William Eisdell Moore (17 March 1918 – 18 June 2015) was a New Zealand surgeon and medical researcher. He was a pioneer in cochlear implants, and was the first person in the world to perform an eardrum transplant. He also served as a medical officer in World War II, and was the only Pākehā in the 28th Māori Battalion. His autobiography ''So Old So Quick'' was released in 2004. Moore was born in Bristol, England on 17 March 1918, the son of Alice Moore (née Lofthouse) and her husband, New Zealand surgeon Arthur Eisdell Moore. He was educated at Auckland Grammar School, and then studied medicine at the University of Otago, from where he graduated MB ChB in 1943. On 21 December 1942, he married Beth Beedie in Dannevirke. Patrick Albert Moore (born June 15, 1947) is a Canadian industry consultant, former activist, and past president of Greenpeace Canada. Since leaving Greenpeace in 1986, Moore has criticized the environmental movement for what he sees as scare tactics and disinformation, saying that the environmental movement "abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism". Philip Hoare (born Patrick Kevin Philip Moore, 1958) is an English writer, especially of history and biography. He instigated the Moby Dick Big Read project. Patrick Theodore Moore
Patrick Theodore Moore (September 22, 1821 – February 19, 1883) was an Irish-born Confederate States Army brigadier general during the American Civil War. As colonel leading the 1st Virginia Infantry Regiment, he was severely wounded at the Battle of Blackburn's Ford on July 18, 1861, and was incapacitated for further field service. Thereafter, he served as an aide-de-camp, first to General Joseph E. Johnston and then to Lieutenant General James Longstreet, a judge advocate general on court martial duty and a brigade commander of Virginia Reserves (local defense forces) in the Department of Richmond.
