Pasir Ris GRC
Pasir Ris Group Representation Constituency was a four member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) that locates in the eastern part of Singapore at Pasir Ris. It had only existed once in 1997 general election. This GRC was created from the wards of Pasir Ris and parts of Tampines North from the defunct Eunos Group Representation Constituency In 2001 General Election, this GRC had absorbed 3 wards in Punggol areas, while 3 of the existing 4 member wards in Pasir Ris was consolidated into 2 wards. With such enlargement, this GRC was renamed into Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC and expands to a 5 members GRC. Since then, it has again further expanded to 6 members GRC on 2006 General Election which the arrangement existed until 2020. Pasir Ris
Pasir Ris is a planning area and residential town located in the East Region of Singapore. It is bordered by Tampines and Paya Lebar to the south, Sengkang to the southwest and Changi to the east. The planning area also shares riverine boundary with Punggol to the west, separated by the Serangoon River, as well as having a maritime boundary with the North-Eastern Islands planning area, across the Straits of Johor. Like other new towns, public transport facilities were factored into the development of Pasir Ris. Pasir Ris is easily accessible via bus services at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange and the Mass Rapid Transit at Pasir Ris MRT station. Today, landmarks in the area include the NTUC Downtown East, Pasir Ris Beach Park and White Sands Shopping Mall. 1997 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 2 January 1997. President Ong Teng Cheong dissolved parliament on 16 December 1996 on the advice of Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. The election results were released in the late evening that day and the ruling People's Action Party won a total of 81 out of 83 seats as well as a tenth consecutive term in office under the then-Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. Other major political parties contesting in the election were the Workers' Party, Singapore Democratic Party, National Solidarity Party, Singapore People's Party and the Democratic Progressive Party. Eunos Group Representation Constituency
Eunos Group Representation Constituency (Simplified Chinese: 友诺士集选区;Traditional Chinese: 友諾士集選區) is a defunct Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern region of Singapore. This GRC existed for the 1988 and 1991 general election before being absorbed into Aljunied GRC and the brand new East Coast GRC for the 1997 general election. Eunos GRC was won narrowly by the People's Action Party in both the 1988 and 1991 General Elections. Eunos GRC was formerly led by Zulkifli bin Mohammed in 1988 and Sidek bin Saniff in 1991. 2001 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 3 November 2001. President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 18 October 2001 on the advice of Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. The ruling People's Action Party (PAP) won 82 of the 84 elected seats in Parliament. Due to the large number (51) of uncontested seats, only 675,306 of the 2,036,923 eligible voters (33.2%) had an opportunity to vote. Punggol
Punggol, alternatively spelled as Ponggol, is a Planning Areas of Singapore, planning area and New towns of Singapore, new town situated on the Tanjong Punggol peninsula in the North-East Region, Singapore, North-East Region of Singapore. The town directly borders Sengkang to the south and shares riverine boundaries with the planning area of Seletar to the west and Pasir Ris to the east. 2006 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 6 May 2006. President of Singapore, President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 20 April 2006 on the advice of Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong three weeks before the election. Charles Chong You Fook ( zh, s=张有福, p=Zhāng Yǒufú; born 24 June 1953) is a Singaporean former politician who served as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore between 2011 and 2020. Ahmad Bin Mohamed Magad
Ahmad bin Mohamed Magad (born 22 December 1952) is a Singaporean former politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Pasir Ris–Loyang division of Pasir Ris GRC between 1997 and 2001 and the Pasir Ris East division of Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC between 2001 and 2011. Early life and education Ahmad was one of six children of Arab Singaporean Mohamed Omar Magad. Ahmad completed his primary education at Haig Boys' School and his secondary education at Presbyterian High School.
