The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy) is a junior position in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in the British government. It was most recently held by Damian Collins Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), MP who took the office in July 2022 after Chris Philp resigned. The role was created out of the Minister of State for Digital and Culture. Christopher Ian Brian Mynott Philp (born 6 July 1976) is a British politician serving as Minister of State for Crime, Policing and Fire since October 2022. He served as Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General in October 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Croydon South since May 2015. In August 2019, he was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid. Damian Noel Thomas Collins (born 4 February 1974) is a British Conservative Party politician who formerly served as Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport between July and October 2022. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Folkestone and Hythe since the 2010 general election. From 2016 to 2019, Collins was chair of the House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
