Parklands Girls High School
Leeds East Academy (formerly Parklands Girls High School) is a secondary school with academy status, in the Seacroft area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The school was previously an all-girls school, being the last single-sex school in Leeds. Parklands Girls High School was particularly small for an urban secondary school with only around 350 pupils; it was this which suggested to Leeds City Council that segregated education was no longer popular and prompted them to make it a mixed school and it was renamed Parklands High School. The school is now an academy and has a partnership with Leeds West Academy and Leeds City Academy as part of The White Rose Academies Trust. Leeds West and Leeds East Academies were previously sponsored by E-ACT, however in 2014 the schools joined the White Rose Academies Trust with Leeds City College as their sponsor. Seacroft is an outer-city suburb/township consisting mainly of council estate housing covering an extensive area of east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Leeds West Academy is a secondary school with academy status in Rodley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is well known for specialising its area of education in the Performing Arts sector. History Leeds West Academy was founded in September 2009, and replaced Intake High School which was on the same site and had the same head teacher. The academy moved into new buildings on the site in September 2011. In 2019, the school formally closed its Sixth Form provision. E-ACT is a multi-academy trust responsible for 28 academies in England. As an academy trust, it is an exempt charity regulated by the Department for Education. Jill Mortimer
Jillian Wendy Mortimer (née Sowerby; born 20 March 1965) is a British Conservative Party politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Hartlepool since 2021. Personal life Mortimer was born Jillian Wendy Sowerby on 20 March 1965 in Leeds. Her father was a builder and her mother was a greengrocer.
