Paris Métro Line 15
Paris Métro Line 15 is one of four new lines of Grand Paris Express, a major expansion project of the Paris Métro. Currently under construction, the line will provide a new orbital route through the suburbs of Paris, servicing the departments of Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis. The southern section of the line is planned to open in 2025, with the completed line planned to open in the early 2030s. Line 15 will be fully automated (along with all Grand Paris Express lines) and when completed, will be the longest underground rapid tunnel for passenger traffic in the world, if completed. The line is being built by Société du Grand Paris, a public agency set up by the French Government to deliver the Grand Paris Express project. Paris Métro
The Paris Métro (french: Métro de Paris ; short for Métropolitain ) is a rapid transit system in the Paris metropolitan area, France. A symbol of the Paris, city, it is known for its density within the capital's territorial limits, uniform architecture and Paris Métro entrances by Hector Guimard, unique entrances influenced by Art Nouveau. It is mostly underground and long. It has 308 stations, of which 64 have transfers between lines. Pantograph (transport)
A pantograph (or "pan" or "panto") is an apparatus mounted on the roof of an electric train, tram or electric bus to collect power through contact with an overhead line. By contrast, battery electric buses and trains are charged at charging stations. The pantograph is a common type of current collector; typically, a single or double wire is used, with the return current running through the rails. The term stems from the resemblance of some styles to the mechanical pantographs used for copying handwriting and drawings. Invention The pantograph, with a low-friction, replaceable graphite contact strip or "shoe" to minimise lateral stress on the contact wire, first appeared in the late 19th century. Saint-Denis Pleyel is a future Paris Métro station located in Saint-Denis, in the northern suburbs of Paris. Currently under construction as part of the Grand Paris Express project, the station is proposed to open in 2024 as the terminus of Line 14. In future, the station will serve the orbital Line 15 and be the terminus of lines 16 and 17. Location Located in Saint-Denis, the station will be built west of the Paris-Lille railway lines, at the corner of Rue Pleyel and Francisque-Poulbot. Within walking distance of the station will be the Carrefour Pleyel station on Line 13. A bridge will also connect the station to Stade de France–Saint-Denis on RER D. La Défense () is a major business district in France, located west of the city limits of Paris. Pont De Sèvres (Paris Métro)
Pont de Sèvres () is a station of the Paris Métro on line 9, serving as its western terminus. It is located near the pont de Sèvres, which is a bridge on the Seine connecting to Sèvres. History The station opened on 3 February 1934 with the extension from Porte de Saint-Cloud station. It was the first extension of the métro network beyond the limits of Paris. Hence, it is one of the first three stations to provide service to the inner suburbs of Paris (along with ''Billancourt'' and ''Marcel Sembat''). In 1943, during an Allied air raid aimed at destroying the Renault factories at Boulogne-Billancourt (on Seguin Island), the bombs missed their targets and caused 300 deaths, including 80 around the station, partially destroying it.
