Parallel Lines 30th Anniversary Tour
The Parallel Lines 30th Anniversary Tour was a 2008 worldwide concert tour by Blondie both to promote the 30th anniversary re-release of their ground-breaking 1978 album ''Parallel Lines'', and to celebrate the longevity and success of the album. Concerts were held in North America and Europe with a single stop in Israel. Background The tour was announced in April 2008 with the band also releasing a tour promo video. A live performance of all or most of the ''Parallel Lines'' album, in its original order, opened each concert. Songs including "Just Go Away", "11:59", "Will Anything Happen?", and "Pretty Baby" from ''Parallel Lines'' were omitted from certain concerts, making it uncommon to find a concert featuring all twelve songs from the original album. Blondie (band)
Blondie is an American Rock music, rock band co-founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the American New wave music, new wave scene of the mid-1970s in New York. Their first two albums contained strong elements of Punk rock, punk and new wave, and although highly successful in the UK and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground music, underground band in the U.S. until the release of ''Parallel Lines'' in 1978. Over the next five years, the band achieved several hit singles including "Heart of Glass (song), Heart of Glass," "Call Me (Blondie song), Call Me," "Atomic (song), Atomic," "The Tide Is High," and "Rapture (Blondie song), Rapture". "I'll Take You There" is a song written by Al Bell (using his real name Alvertis Isbell), and originally performed by soul music, soul/gospel music, gospel family band the Staple Singers. The Staple Singers version, produced by Bell, was released on Stax Records in February 1972, and spent a total of 15 weeks on the charts and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It is ranked as the 19th biggest American hit of 1972. The song was also a significant chart hit in two later cover versions. A 1991 cover version by BeBe & CeCe Winans, with Mavis Staples featured as a guest artist, made it to #1 on the R&B chart, and also reached #90 on the Hot 100. In 1994, the British band General Public released a cover of "I'll Take You There" which peaked at #22 on the Hot 100. Orillia
Orillia is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is in Simcoe County between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Although it is geographically located within Simcoe County, the city is a single-tier municipality. It is part of the Huronia region of Central Ontario. The population in 2021 was 33,411. It was incorporated as a village in 1867, but the history of what is today the City of Orillia dates back at least several thousand years. Ulster Performing Arts Center
The Ulster Performing Arts Center (UPAC), originally the Broadway Theater and Community Theatre, is located on Broadway in Kingston, New York, United States. A Classical Revival building built in 1926, it is the only unaltered pre-World War II theater left in the city, and one of only three from that era in the Hudson Valley. It is also the largest proscenium theater between Manhattan and Albany. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, two years after it was closed due to declining business. It remained vacant until an extensive renovation effort late in the 20th century allowed it to reopen in 2002. Today it is operated by the Bardavon Theater in nearby Poughkeepsie. While it served primarily as a movie palace in its earlier incarnation, today it primarily hosts musical performances.
