Paracomitas
''Paracomitas'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Pseudomelatomidae. Description The genus ''Paracomitas'' has a carinate protoconch which lies in the same cone as the spire, thus differing from typical ''Comitas'' in which the protoconch is noncarinate, bulbous and tilted. Although the type of Comitas, ''C. oamarutica'' (Suter), is Drillia-like in the ornamentation of its spire, some species referred to ''Comitas'' by Powell on the basis of the protoconch, such as ''Comitas allani ''Comitas allani'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Pseudomelatomidae.MolluscaBase (2018). Paracomitas Augusta
''Paracomitas augusta'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 10.3 mm, its diameter 3.9 mm. (Original description) The fusiform shell is slender and fragile The spire and the body whorl are of about the same length. The whorls with a spiral keel bear small nodules The siphonal canal is long. Sculpture : The whorls are strongly keeled at the periphery and with a row of gemmules set slightly oblique thereon. On the body whorl there is a lower smooth keel present. A few inconspicuous spiral striae are on the area between the keels and on the anterior extremity. The axial sculpture consists of minute and irregular growth lines only. The colour is pure-white, slightly shining. The spire is pagodiform and elongated. The protoconch A protoconch (meaning first or earliest or original shell) is an embryonic or larval shell which occurs in some classes of mollu ...

Paracomitas Rodgersi
''Paracomitas rodgersi'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 27 mm. (Original description) The shell is of medium size and inflation. The whorls are nearly straight sided, interrupted mainly by the nodose peripheral carina. The protoconch is small, subnaticoidal and tilted. The aperture is moderately narrow, about half the length of the shell. The outer lip is thin, broken on the specimens at hand, but shown by growth lines to recurve sharply into the anal sinus. The anal sinus is moderately broad and deep, adjacent to the suture, the growth lines recurving only slightly from the apex of the sinus to the suture. The sculpture consists of short axial nodes on the periphery, about ten of the peripheral nodes visible from an angle. The lower part of the body whorl The body whorl is part of the morphology of the shell in those gastropod moll ...

''Paracomitas protransenna'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies.MolluscaBase (2018). Paracomitas protransenna (P. Marshall & R. Murdoch, 1923) †. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=831513 on 2019-01-06 Description The length of the shell attains 13 mm, its diameter 5 mm. (Original description) The small shell is narrowly fusiform. The spire is turreted. The shell contains seven or eight whorls. It shows a strongly projecting rounded keel at middle on the spire-whorls, concave above and below, on the body whorl a well-marked concave area below keel followed by a second keel less pronounced, anterior to this rather abruptly contracted. The aperture and siphonal canal are slightly longer than the spire. The protoconch A protoconch (meaning first or earliest or original shell) is an embryonic or larval sh ...

Paracomitas Undosa
''Paracomitas undosa'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 30 mm, the diameter 4½ mm (this may have been more if the peristome was complete). (Original description) The elongately fusiform shell has a rather long siphonal canal. The rather strong shell is yellowish-white. The protoconch is wanting. The 6½ remaining whorls are separated by a conspicuous, simple suture. They are convex and slightly excavated at their upper part. The sculpture consists of numerous, very irregular, spiral striae, more conspicuous at the base of shell and siphonal canal, scarcely traceable in the excavation. The upper whorls show a peripheral row of obtuse tubercles, which in the uppermost whorls have the character of ribs. These tubercles disappear on the body whorl The body whorl is part of the morphology of the shell in those gastropod mollusks that possess a coiled sh ...

Pseudomelatomidae
Pseudomelatomidae is a family of predatory sea snails, marine gastropods included in the superfamily Conoidea (previously Conacea) and part of the Neogastropoda ( Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). In 1995 Kantor elevated the subfamily Pseudomelatominae to the status of family Pseudomelatomidae. In 2011 Bouchet, Kantor ''et al''. moved the Crassispirinae and Zonulispirinae and numerous genera of snails loosely called turrid snails (which at that point had been placed in the family Conidae) and placed them in the family Pseudomelatomidae. This was based on a cladistical analysis of shell morphology, radular characteristics, anatomical characters, and a dataset of molecular sequences of three gene fragments. Genera Genera within the family Pseudomelatomidae include: * '' Abyssocomitas'' Sysoev & Kantor, 1986 * '' Aguilaria'' Taylor & Wells, 1994 * ''Anticomitas'' Powell, 1942 * '' Antimelatoma'' Powell, 1942 * '' Antiplanes'' Dall, 1902 * '' Benthodaphne'' Oyama, 1962 * † ''Boreo ...
