The white, slender shell has a fusiform shape It contains 9 -10 whorls. The whorls are angulated in the middle, concave in the upper portion and convex below. The whorls are bordered below the suture with a thickened margin. The longitudinal ribs are nodose. The plicae are delicate and oblique. The body whorl contains about 16 oblique ribs that become in the lower part attenuate and then almost obsolete. The white aperture measures about 3/7 the total length. The outer lip is tenuous and widely sinuate. The smooth columella is almost upright. The broad siphonal canal is oblique.

Comitas Clarae
''Comitas clarae'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Pseudomelatomidae. Description Dimensions: length 17.5 mm; breadth 6 mm length of the aperture 9 mm. (Original description) The shell is elongate, fusiform, and thin. The posterior part of the spire is ribbed, anteriorly the ribs become obsolete. The shoulder of body whorl is obtusely angulate. The entire external surface of the whorls is covered with small, closely-set spiral lirae. The aperture is broad. The broad sinus is situated near the suture. This fossil must be mainly distinguished by the absence of any sculpture. The upper part of the spire is ribbed and in the lower whorls, these ribs become obsolete. The periphery of the last whorl is obtusely angular and the whole shell is covered spirally with close fine thread-like lirce. The aperture is broad and the sinus wide, deep, and conspicuous. Tryon was of the opinion that this was a more highly colored adult of ''Drillia putillus'' (synonym of '' Clavus putillus'' (Reeve, 1845)) with the peripheral row of tubercles whitish. He couldn't find other differences. The fusiform shell consists of ten whorls. These are transversally crossed by delicate striae. The fulvescent shell shows a white zone that passes over the nodules upon the angle in the center of each whorl. The sinus is small.
