Pan Nam
Pan Nam or Peng Nan (彭南) was a Chinese martial artist and Grandmaster (martial arts), Grandmaster of the Wing Chun style. In 1994, he was awarded the title of "Guangdong Wulin Hundred Masters". The popular Pan Nam Wing Chun Tournament which began in 2018 was named after Nam. Early years Peng Nan was born on December 24, 1911, and lived at No. 223 Gaoji Street, Foshan, Guangdong. Nam was not tall, but his eyes were piercing. He started martial arts at the age of 13, and he was a beginner in Shaolin Boxing, Hong Boxing, Bie Da and Wing Chun (the legend is Kuaishou Wing Chun). At the age of 36 (1947), he learned Wing Chun from Master Zhaoju. Master Zhaoju is a direct disciple of Chen Huashun's disciple Chen Rumian, an apprentice of Ryazan at Wing Chunmen, Foshan, and he was good at Wing Chun (Zhao died in Shiqi, Zhongshan in 1972). Huazhou District
Huazhou District (), formerly Hua County or Huaxian (), is a district of Weinan, Shaanxi province, China. It was upgraded from a county to a district in 2015. The district spans an area of , and has a population of about 324,300 as of 2012. History During the Western Zhou period, the area belonged to the State of Zheng. During the Spring and Autumn period, the State of Qin established in the area of present-day Huazhou. Zheng County was put under the jurisdiction of Hua Prefecture. Early in the Yuan dynasty, Zheng County was merged into Hua Prefecture. The epicenter of the 1556 Shaanxi earthquake was in Huazhou District. In 1913, Hua Prefecture was re-organized as Hua County. The Chinese people or simply Chinese, are people or ethnic groups identified with China, usually through ethnicity, nationality, citizenship, or other affiliation. Wing Chun
Wing Chun (Chinese: 詠春 or 咏春, lit. "singing spring"), sometimes spelled Ving Tsun, is a concept-based fighting art, form of Nanquan (martial art), Southern Chinese kung fu and close-quarters system of self-defense. In Mandarin, it is pronounced "Yong Chun." Origins The definitive origin of Wing Chun remains unknown, and is attributed to the development of Nanquan (martial art), Southern Chinese Martial Arts. Grandmaster and Master are titles used to describe or address some senior or experienced martial artists. Typically these titles are honorary in nature, meaning that they do not confer rank, but rather distinguish the individual as very highly revered in their school, system, or style. History Asian martial arts traditionally use terms that are usually translated as "teacher" and the use of "master" was a Western invention derived from 1950s United States war veterans returning home with stories of the incredible martial feats of certain individuals and groups. Subsequently, they found their way into martial arts culture as marketing tactics to the extent that the titles are aligned to the 'elderly martial arts master' stock character.
