Pan-European Phoneathon
Pan-European Phoneathon is a fundraising event held by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund's French affiliate (''Fonds Armenien de France'') and is the second largest fundraising event of the Hayastan Fund after its Telethon aired from Los Angeles. The four-day Phoneathon, which runs for twelve hours each day, is staffed by Armenian and non-Armenian volunteers. Stationed in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, and Toulouse, the volunteers call to Armenian and non-Armenian families, businesses, and organizations across Europe and mobilize grassroot support for the development of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh). Since the inception of the Pan-European Phoneathon in 2000, more than 400,000 phone calls have been made and more than 10 million euros were raised through the donations of over 22,000 supporters. Armenia Fund
Armenia Fund (full name Hayastan All Armenian Fund, hy, Հայաստան համահայկական հիմնադրամ) was established in 1994 in Los Angeles, California. Armenia Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-governmental, non-political corporation. Serving as the United States’ Western Region affiliate of the “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund along with its nineteen subsidiaries around the world, Armenia Fund, Inc. has issued over $120 million of electricity development guarantee and humanitarian revenue for Armenia. Lately the government of Armenia has been contributing to the fund since the fund has been receiving less support and not being able to meet its initial goals. Goals Armenia Fund attempts to rebuild Armenia's economy and assist in the well-being of life in the region. ''Hetq'' ( hy, Հետք, meaning ''The Trace'') is an online newspaper published in Yerevan by the Investigative Journalists NGO. It first appeared in 2001 in the Armenian language, and since 2002 it has been publishing in English as well. Michel Drucker
Michel Drucker, CQ (born 12 September 1942 in Vire) is a popular French journalist and TV host. He has been on screen for so long on various shows and different networks, both public and private, that he once said that some people joked that he was included in the price of their TV sets. Drucker's younger brother, Jacques, is a doctor, and his older brother, Jean, was a television executive. He started a journalistic career in 1965 at the ORTF as sports reporter and commentator. Daniel Bilalian
Daniel Bilalian (born 10 April 1947) is a French journalist, news anchor and television presenter. Life and career Daniel Bilalian was born in Paris and is of Armenian descent. After studying law, he became a journalist at the ''Union de Reims''. Since 1971, he is a regional correspondent for the ORTF, before joining the national redaction staff of Antenne 2, where he became a main reporter before presenting ''Antenne 2 midi''. He presented some daily news in 1976. Youri Djorkaeff
Youri Raffi Djorkaeff (born 9 March 1968) is a French former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or forward. Throughout his club career, he played for teams in France, Italy, Germany, England, and the United States. At international level, Djorkaeff scored 28 goals in 82 appearances with the French national team between 1993 and 2002. Robert Guédiguian
Robert Jules Guédiguian (born 3 December 1953) is a French film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. Most of his films star Ariane Ascaride and Jean-Pierre Darroussin. Life and career Guédiguian is the son of a German mother and an Armenian father, whose family immigrated to France in the early 20th century after the Armenian genocide. Armenians In Syria
The Armenians in Syria are Syrian citizens of either full or partial Armenian descent. Syria and the surrounding areas have often served as a refuge for Armenians who fled from wars and persecutions such as the Armenian genocide. However, there has been an Armenian presence in the region since the Byzantine era. According to the Ministry of Diaspora of Armenia, the estimated number of Armenians in Syria is 100,000, with more than 60,000 of them centralized in Aleppo. Tavush Province
Tavush ( hy, Տավուշ, ) is a province of Armenia located at the northeast of Armenia, bordered by Georgia from the north and Azerbaijan from the east.
