Palliser was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1968 to 1979. This riding was created in 1966 from parts of Acadia, Bow River, Calgary North, and Macleod ridings. It was abolished in 1976 when it was redistributed into Bow River, Calgary East, Calgary North, Calgary West, and Red Deer ridings. Alberta ( ) is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is part of Western Canada and is one of the three prairie provinces. The House of Commons of Canada (french: Chambre des communes du Canada) is the lower house of the Parliament of Canada. Together with the Crown and the Senate of Canada, they comprise the bicameral legislature of Canada. The House of Commons is a democratically elected body whose members are known as members of Parliament (MPs). Bow River is a federal electoral district in southern Alberta, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 1968, from 1979 to 1988 and since 2015. This riding was first created in 1914 from Macleod riding. It was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed into Calgary North, Crowfoot, Palliser and Rocky Mountain ridings. It was re-created in 1976 from parts of Crowfoot, Lethbridge, Palliser and Rocky Mountain ridings. It was abolished in 1987 when it was redistributed into Calgary North, Calgary Northeast, Calgary West, Crowfoot, Lethbridge, Macleod, Red Deer and Wild Rose ridings. Macleod was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1908 to 1968 and from 1988 to 2015. It was a mostly rural riding in southwest Alberta, however it extended as far north as the outer suburbs of Calgary, and in its final years included a few slivers of Calgary itself. Calgary West was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 1953, and from 1979 to 2015. Red Deer (electoral District)
Red Deer was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1908 to 2015. History This riding was created in 1907 from Calgary and Strathcona ridings. At the time this was a vast riding taking in much of Central Alberta between the two major cities of Calgary and Edmonton. The only major urban centre was Red Deer, then a small town of only 1,500 people. Once an overwhelmingly rural constituency, it has been consistently reduced in geographic size over the years due to Red Deer's continued growth. In 2003, about 20% of the district was transferred to the Wetaskiwin riding. The riding was represented by centre-right MPs from 1935 onward. Stanley Stanford Schumacher (12 June 1933 – 10 October 2020) was a politician from Alberta, Canada. He was speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and a member of the House of Commons of Canada. Early life Stanley Stanford Schumacher was born in Hanna, Alberta, to parents Louis and Gladys Schumacher on 12 June 1933. Louis Schumacher was a businessman and his mother Gladys was a school teacher. In 1968, he married Virginia Brodie whom he met in the Young Progressive Conservative Club and with whom he would have two children, Sandra and David. Schumacher joined the Canadian Officers' Training Corps in fall 1954 and served until 1958 as a commissioned second lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps, including a deployment to Soest, Germany with the Royal Canadian Dragoons.
