Pallavan Express
Pallavan Express is an Intercity express typed superfast service operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This service connects the cities of Chennai to Karaikudi via Tiruchirappalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The rakes of this train was upgraded to brand new modern LHB rakes from 30 June 2019. Pallavan Superfast is fondly known as "PRINCE OF CHORD LINE" along with Vaigai Superfast known as "CHORD LINE BROTHERS". History The Pallavan Express was introduced to run parallel to the Vaigai Express, which could not complete the round trip between Madurai and Chennai. The express was initially introduced on 15 August 1977 between Chennai and Madurai as a daily day express service with two dedicated rakes in the name of Madurai Pallavan Express for supplying rakes for Vaigai Express at Chennai Egmore. Superfast Express Trains In India
Express trains are express rail services of India. Express trains make a small number of stops, unlike ordinary passenger or local trains. Because of their limited stops, these trains are able to obtain the highest speeds of any trains in India. An express train is one where the average speed, excluding halts, is greater than 42 km/h. Including halts the average speed often is below 42 km/h. Although this is pretty slow as compared to international standards, the "Express" trains here mean faster than the ordinary passenger and local trains. Tiruchchirappalli Junction railway station, also known as Trichy Junction railway station (station code: TPJ) is a junction station in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. It serves as the headquarters for Tiruchirappalli railway division of the Southern Railway zone. The station code is TPJ, used for official purposes. Daily approximately 15,000 passengers are using this Tiruchirappalli Junction. TPJ is the only railway station in southern railway to host diesel–electric multiple unit (DEMU) shed.
