Pallacanestro Cantù
Pallacanestro Cantù, known for sponsorship reasons as Acqua S.Bernardo Cantù, is an Italian professional basketball club that is based in Cantù, Lombardy. On the European-wide club competition scene, Cantù is second to Real Madrid – against whom they have an 8–2 record – for European trophies won, with twelve titles (two EuroLeague, four FIBA Saporta Cups, four FIBA Korać Cups and also two FIBA Intercontinental Cups.), in addition to three domestic Italian Leagues and two Italian Supercups. History 1936–1969: Formation and early years The club was founded as Associazione Pallacanestro Cantù in 1936 with impetus from Mario Broggi and Angiolino Polli. Serie A2 Basket
Serie A2, known for sponsorship reasons as Serie A2 Old Wild West, is a men's basketball league in Italy. It constitutes the second-tier of the Italian league pyramid, below the first division LBA and above the third division Serie B, with promotion/relegation occurring between these leagues. It is run by the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP), itself regulated by the FIP, the Italian federation. Names History The league was created in May 1974, by the Lega Basket, the organisation in charge of running the LBA (to this day), that decided to create a new second division with 10 clubs. The two that were relegated during that season, and 8 from the now-former second tier Serie B, chosen with an on and off the court criteria. Forst (brewery)
Forst is an Italian brewing company, based in Forst (Italian: ''Foresta''), a ''frazione'' (municipal subdivision) of Algund (Italian: ''Lagundo''), South Tyrol. The brewery was founded in 1857 by two entrepreneurs, Johann Wallnöfer and Franz Tappeiner, from Meran (Italian: ''Merano''). Later in 1863, the company passed to the entrepreneur Josef Fuchs, who enlarged the plant in Forst. In 2004, Forst opened a small microbrewery in Forst, Germany. Operations Forst has an annual production of 700,000 hl, serving primarily the domestic market. In 1991, it acquired the Menabrea brewery in Biella, Piedmont and also maintains a bottling plant in Palermo, Sicily. Pierluigi Marzorati
Pierluigi "Pierlo" Marzorati (born 12 September 1952) is an Italian former professional basketball player. He is considered to have been one of the best point guards of all time in Europe, and was named the Mister Europa, in 1976. He was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1991. In 2007, he was inducted into the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame and enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was chosen as one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors. Arnaldo Taurisano
Arnaldo Taurisano (Milan, 18 November 1933 – Brescia, 7 May 2019) was an Italian professional basketball coach. In 2009, at the age of 76, he became member of the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame. His career He began his coaching career before reaching the thirties by the local clubs of Lombardy as ''Pavoniana Milano'' and ''Nuova Pallacanestro Vigevano''. In 1963 went north to the club of Pallacanestro Cantù as an assistant coach and heads of infrastructure departments. In 1965–66 season he had the first great opportunity to coach the men's section of Oransoda Cantù and led the team in the fifth place of Serie A with a 12–10 wins record. Carlo Recalcati
Carlo Recalcati (born September 11, 1945 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian professional basketball coach, and a former player. He was the head coach of the senior Italian national basketball team, from 2001 to 2009, and led them to the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, and the bronze medal at the EuroBasket 2003. Playing career As a player on the club level, Recalcati played for Pallacanestro Cantù (1962–1979, winning the Italian League championship in 1968 and 1975), and Pallacanestro Parma (1979–1981).
