The Palembang or Palembangese people ( id, Orang Palembang; Palembang language: ''Uwong Pelémbang''), also known as Palembangese Malay ( ms, Melayu Palembang; Jawi: ملايو ڤلامبڠ) are an ethnic group that inhabits the interior parts of South Sumatra province, Indonesia. Palembangese cuisine is the cuisine of the Palembangese people of the city of Palembang in the South Sumatra province of Indonesia. It is the second most well-known cuisine from Sumatra after Padang. Jawi (; ace, Jawoë; Kelantan-Pattani: ''Yawi''; ) is a writing system used for writing several languages of Southeast Asia, such as Acehnese, Banjarese, Kerinci, Maguindanaon, Malay, Minangkabau, Tausūg, and Ternate.
