Pala (album)
''Pala'' is the second album from British alternative dance band Friendly Fires. It was released in the UK on 16 May 2011, and charted at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. The album name comes from Aldous Huxley's final novel ''Island (Huxley novel), Island'', which tells the story of a journalist shipwrecked on the fictional island of Pala, which supports a utopian society. The scarlet macaw photograph was chosen from the private collection of Norwegian fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø. Singles * "Live Those Days Tonight" is the first single taken from the album. The track received its first play on Zane Lowe's show on BBC Radio 1 on 22 March 2011. The band performed the song on ''Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'', and it was released to the iTunes Store, US iTunes Store the next day. In the UK, it was released on 16 May 2011, the same day as the album, and charted at number 80 on the UK Singles Chart. * "Hawaiian Air" was the second single taken from the album. Friendly Fires
Friendly Fires are an English indie rock band from St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. They are currently signed to XL Recordings. Their self-titled debut album was released on 1 September 2008, and was announced as one of the shortlisted twelve for the 2009 Mercury Prize on 21 July 2009. History Friendly Fires met at St Albans School. At the age of 13, in year eight and nine (the second or third year), the members formed their first band, a post-hardcore outfit called First Day Back, covering songs by Green Day and other rock-like artists, which existed until they began university. During this time, lead singer Ed Macfarlane released his own music (under his own name) through the electronica label Skam, and Precinct Recordings. Lone (musician)
Matt Cutler, better known as Lone, is a British electronic musician from Nottingham, England. Biography Cutler adopted the Lone alias after the dissolution of his previous band, the electronic duo Kids in Tracksuits, in which Cutler performed with Andy Hemsley. His debut release as Lone came in 2007 with ''Everything is Changing Colour'' CD-R, followed by another full-length album '' Lemurian'' in 2008 on the Dealmaker label. ''Ecstasy & Friends'' appeared on the Werk Discs label in 2009. Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom (born 7 March 1986), known professionally as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or TEED), is a British electronic music producer, DJ and singer-songwriter based in the United States.
