Pakokku Bridge
Pakokku Bridge is a rail and road bridge across the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar's Pakokku town. The main bridge is long with the motorway measuring and the railroad measuring . The bridge is part of the India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway and is the longest bridge in Myanmar. Construction The bridge connects the town of Pakokku with the administrative district of Nyaung-U. The bridge has a 28 foot wide motorway and a 14 foot wide roadway in parallel besides two pedestrian walkways measuring three foot and three inches. It is a broad crested type bridge with a 52 foot high and 262 feet wide clearance area. The bridge also has a 512 feet long approach bridge and an 850 feet long approach embankment. The bridge was inaugurated on 1 January 2012 by Vice-president Tin Aung Myint Oo. Irrawaddy River
The Irrawaddy River ( Ayeyarwady River; , , from Indic ''revatī'', meaning "abounding in riches") is a river that flows from north to south through Myanmar (Burma). It is the country's largest river and most important commercial waterway. Originating from the confluence of the N'mai and Mali rivers, it flows relatively straight North-South before emptying through the Irrawaddy Delta in the Ayeyarwady Region into the Andaman Sea. Its drainage basin of about covers a large part of Burma. After Rudyard Kipling's poem, it is sometimes referred to as ' The Road to Mandalay'. As early as the sixth century, the river was used for trade and transport. Having developed an extensive network of irrigation canals, the river became important to the British Empire after it had colonized Burma. Pakokku
Pakokku ( my, ပခုက္ကူမြို့, ) is the largest city in the Magway Region of Myanmar. It is situated about 30 km north-east of Bagan on the Irrawaddy River. It is the administration seat of Pakokku Township , Pakokku District and Gangaw District. Pakokku Bridge is part of the India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway and is the longest bridge in Myanmar. India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway (IMT Highway), long route, is a highway under upgrade under India's Look East policy that will connect Moreh, India with Mae Sot, Thailand via Myanmar. Imphal-Mandalay-Bangkok route, consisting of Imphal-Mandalay and Mandalay-Bangkok , is a highway in good condition except for part of long Kalewa- Yagyi stretch being upgraded to 2-lane in each direction (total 4 lanes) highway by India. The road is expected to boost trade and commerce in the ASEAN–India Free Trade Area, as well as with the rest of Southeast Asia. India has also proposed extending the highway to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The proposed approx route from India to Vietnam is known as the East-West Economic Corridor (Thailand to Cambodia and Vietnam became operational in 2015). '' Thihathura'' Tin Aung Myint Oo ( my, တင်အောင်မြင့်ဦး ; born 29 May 1949) is a Burmese former military official and politician who served as First Vice President of Myanmar from 30 March 2011 to 1 July 2012.
