Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) (); is a private association of television and radio broadcasters in Pakistan. It was established on September 23, 2005 at a meeting in Karachi. Mir Shakil ur Rehman, founder of the association, was elected as the first chairman of association. Mian Amer Mahmood (Dunya TV) is current chairman of PBA. Mir Shakil Ur Rehman
Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, in short MSR, (born 8 January 1957) is a Pakistani media mogul and business man. He is the founder of 24-hour news cycle network, ''Geo TV''. In addition, he is the owner of the Jang Group of Newspapers and the News International, that was started by his father Mir Khalil ur Rehman and part owner of the Independent Media Corporation. This media group publishes a number of newspapers and magazines in Urdu and English. IMC also owns the Geo TV network. Early life He was born to a Kashmiri family. Dawn News is one of Pakistan's 24-hour Urdu news channel. Based in Karachi, the station is a subsidiary of Pakistan Herald Publications Limited (PHPL), Pakistan's largest English-language media group. The test transmission of the station occurred on 25 May 2007, and the channel went live on 23 July 2007. Originally broadcast in English, on 15 May 2010, Dawn News converted into an Urdu news channel after successful test transmission of four hours a day. Mir Ibrahim Rahman (born 11 March 1977) is a Pakistani media proprietor who serves as the chief executive of the Geo Television Network. Early life and education Mir Ibrahim Rahman was born on 11 March 1977 in Karachi, to media mogul Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and Shahina Shakil. Kashmiri family. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) is a trade union federation of journalists in Pakistan. PFUJ is affiliated with the International Federation of Journalists.
