Paion
Paion ( el, Παΐων) is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Its population in 2011 was 1,055. The seat of the municipality was in Dafni. The municipality was created after the Greek War of Independence and was dissolved in 1912. It was recreated in 1998 under the Capodistrian Plan. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kalavryta, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 99.325 km2. Paos
Paos ( el, Πάος, before 1927: Σκούπι - ''Skoupi'') is a village and a community in Achaea, Greece. It was the seat of the municipality of Paion. In 2011 its population was 253 for the village and 298 for the community, which includes the villages Dechounaiika (pop. 18), Palaios Paos (pop. 0), Potamia (pop. 17) and Vesini (pop. 10). It is 25 km southwest of Kalavryta, and 50 km northwest of Tripoli. The Greek National Road 33 ( Patras - Tripoli) passes through the village. Its central road is named "111". Population History The location of the ancient city Paos has been found near the modern village, of which the remainder remains to be excavated. Ancient artifacts and remains of the walls have been found. It had a perimeter of 516 m, and had an almost triangular shape with its point facing west with its acropolis in the middle and some ancient buildings to the south, its springs used to be to the northeast with an aqueduct north of the old city. Skotani
Skotani (Greek: Σκοτάνη, before 1928: Κόκοβα - ''Kokova''), is a small mountain village in the municipal unit of Paion, Achaea, Greece. In 2011 its population was 60 for the village and 99 for the community, which includes the village Agios Georgios. Skotani is 5 km east of Chovoli, 7 km northeast of Dafni, Achaea, Dafni, 7 km southwest of Kleitoria and 20 km south of Kalavryta. Its elevation is about 700 m above sea level. Population History Scotane was a town of ancient Arcadian Azania and was part of the city-state of Clitorians, Kleitor in Ancient Greece, classical antiquity. Aroania ( el, Αροάνια) is a village and a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kalavryta, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 173.804 km2. The population is 1,619 (2011 census). The seat of administration was in the town Psofida. The municipality is named after the village and the mountain. Kalavryta
Kalavryta ( el, Καλάβρυτα) is a town and a municipality in the mountainous east-central part of the regional unit of Achaea, Greece. The town is located on the right bank of the river Vouraikos, south of Aigio, southeast of Patras and northwest of Tripoli. Notable mountains in the municipality are Mount Erymanthos in the west and Aroania or Chelmos in the southeast. It was also the new name of the former municipality Lefkasio, of which it was the seat, between 2008 and 2011. Achaea
Achaea () or Achaia (), sometimes transliterated from Greek as Akhaia (, ''Akhaïa'' ), is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Western Greece and is situated in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The capital is Patras which is the third largest city in Greece. Geography Achaea is bordered by Elis to the west and southwest, Arcadia to the south, and Corinthia to the east and southeast.
