Pagani (, ''('e) Pavane'' in ) is a town and ''comune'' in Campania, Italy, administratively part of the Province of Salerno, in the region known as the Agro Nocerino Sarnese. Pagani has a population of 35,834, as of 2016. History In the period before the ancient Rome, Roman supremacy in southern Italy, it was included into the territory of Nuceria, the chief town in the valley of the Sarno (river), Sarnus, Herculaneum, Pompeii, Stabiae and Surrentum all being dependent upon it, accordind to many archaeologist. It maintained its allegiance to Rome till 309 BC when it joined the revolted Samnites. In 308 BC it repulsed a Roman attempt to land at the mouth of the Sarnus, but in 307 BC it was besieged and surrendered. Pagani Automobili S.p.A. (commonly referred to as Pagani) is an Italian manufacturer of hypercars and carbon fiber components. The company was founded in 1992 by the Argentinian Horacio Pagani and is based in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy. Pagani Detention Center is a detention center in the island of Lesbos, Greece for asylum seekers who arrive by boat from Turkey. A converted former storage facility in Lesbos, the center was designed for 300 people, but at times housed up to 1,200 asylum seekers in cramped conditions, often lacking in medical care and subject to beatings from the guards, drawing condemnation from Greek and foreign humanitarian watchdogs.
