Padi Junction
The Padi Lucas Junction is the intersection of NH 205 ( Madras-Tiruvallur High Road) and Inner Ring Road in the city of Chennai and is one of the most important junctions in the city. It is located in Anna Nagar north of Koyambedu Junction. An elevated rotary has been constructed at this junction as part of the NHDP by NHAI to ease the traffic congestion. It was built at a cost of 1,300 million and was opened for traffic on 20 February 2009. Grade separator The junction is used by hundreds of heavy vehicles and the road has a traffic density of about 200,000 passenger car units daily. As of 2014, more than 70,000 vehicles use the Padi flyover every day. To ease the congestion, the NHAI has constructed an elevated four-lane rotary at the junction. Inner Ring Road, Chennai
The Inner Ring Road (IRR), also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Salai or 100-Feet road or State Highway 2, is a major transportation corridor encircling the city of Chennai. It was developed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). It is 25.2 km long with three distinct arms viz., Northern arm, Central arm and Southern arm, connecting SH 49A (Rajiv Gandhi Salai) in Tiruvanmiyur, Velachery main road at Vijayanagar, NH 32 (GST road) at Kathipara, NH 4 at Koyambedu, NH 205 at Padi, NH 5 at Madhavaram and joins SH 104 (TPP Road) at Manali. Anna Nagar
Anna Nagar (formerly known as Naduvakkarai), is a neighbourhood in the metropolitan city of Chennai, India. Named after former chief minister of Tamil Nadu C. N. Annadurai, it is located in the north-western part of Chennai and forms a part of the Aminjikarai taluk and the Anna Nagar Zone. Koyambedu Junction
Koyambedu Junction, also called the Koyambedu Roundtana, is an important road junction in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located north of the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus at the junction of the Inner Ring Road and the Poonamallee High Road (NH4) in the Koyambedu area/locality. The junction is a part of the Golden Quadrilateral project taken up under the National Highways Development Project. Grade separator An elevated Parclo interchange is currently under construction by the National Highways Authority of India to decongest the junction which is heavily utilised by interstate buses. This design of parclo grade separator has three arms of the cloverleaf interchange. The National Highways Authority of India or NHAI (Hindi: भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण) is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, set up in 1995 (Act 1988) and is responsible for management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highway (India), National Highways out of 1,32,499 km in India. One-way Traffic
One-way traffic (or uni-directional traffic) is traffic that moves in a single direction. A one-way street is a street either facilitating only one-way traffic, or designed to direct vehicles to move in one direction. One-way streets typically result in higher traffic flow as drivers may avoid encountering oncoming traffic or turns through oncoming traffic. Residents may dislike one-way streets due to the circuitous route required to get to a specific destination, and the potential for higher speeds adversely affecting pedestrian safety. Maduravoyal Junction
Maduravoyal Junction is an important junction in Chennai. It is located to the west of Koyambedu Junction at the intersection of National Highway 4 (India) (NH4) and Chennai Bypass. Maduravoyal Grade Separator A Cloverleaf interchange was constructed at this junction similar to the one in Kathipara Junction by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as part of the 4050-million Chennai Bypass project (Phase II). The construction of the flyover was completed in June 2010. The project was delayed because of the loose soil at the junction. It was rectified by erecting pillars. The flyover has four loops that coalesce in a clover-shaped structure. The loops are available for vehicles proceeding from Tambaram to Koyambedu, Poonamallee to Tambaram, Puzhal to Poonamallee, Koyambedu to Puzhal.
